So i played Lego Rockband yesterday and its AWSOME

In my area, I'm practically the only one who plays Rock Band online. I could just easily get a used copy and it'll still work 80% of the time here. I've done it with the Classic Rock Pack and AC/DC.

That's a little bit better, so long as the next person to buy it knows that it's used and that the export code may have been used already.

I don't understand what playing RB online has to do with it. I don't play online and I bought it primarily to export the tracks (and still own my copy).

I'm the only one in town who would get DLC and export and such. Seriously, when I brought RB3 to a party, everyone was like "WTF did you get so many songs?" and such. They don't even know you can export the game's songs.

i dont play online but i do buy songs. tho some of my songs from rb2 dident show up on lego rb. im almost done with story mode gunna go bak and 5 star every thing. will be pretty challenging.

The story that this game had really got my hopes up for RB3. I thought they would be smart and re-do this story in a more "T" rated fashion. The lego cut-scenes and characters are the best, but i thought this could easily be replicated to RB3. I was hoping the whole record and album/have a band room type customization would also carry over, o well.

If they are going to make a new rock band anytime soon, I honestly have to say that thier best bet would be to make a Lego RB 2, and then make some sort of death metal track pack to keep people happy.

Lego RB 2, with a killer set and all the fun and customization of the first, would sell like hot cakes

Lego RB is ratings sensitive and won't play anything that's not rated "Family Friendly" (currently 759 of 3198 available tracks, 23.7%).

IMO, Lego Rockband was really a breath of fresh air for the whole franchise.
Between the amount of customization and the humorous storyline,
it's a lot of fun! As much as I would love to export the tracks,
reading how difficult an endeavor that has become for many here
I think I'm just going to leave LRB as it's own game.

That's because no one has the need to post about exporting if it works.

I always recommend Lego RB to people who like these games and have never played it. Like someone said before, it really is a breath of fresh air to the franchise. Something so different and unique, while at the same time it keeps to the core of the game. It's still up to 4 people playing instruments along to a song... but it feels different. Sure it's family friendly, and there are quite a bit of negatives to the game... no online, one-time export, the lego blocks as notes, only 25% of the RB DLC catalog allowed... but aside from that, there are many positives to the game, especially for younger or novice players.

My favorite feature by-far is the option to turn off the drum pedal. I know the "purists" will scoff at this, but it makes drums waaaay more fun to play... and allows me to go Expert on most every song. Also the no-fail stuff increases enjoyability for everyone, and this is all beside the storyline and cutscenes, culminating in a very fun game for the whole family.

I for one find the Lego shaped "notes" to be cute, but a visual strain. Will Lego RB allow you to play an unrated song or does it insist on Family Friendly?

EDIT: I just loaded the game to check and I'm pretty sure that it does not allow you to play NR songs and therefore no RBN ("half the catalog", 1400+ songs). I went into "Free Play" and checked for the presence of a few bands that I knew most or all of whose songs I had were RBN 1.0 and none were there: Third Eye Blind, Rose of Jericho and the only We the Kings song was "Check Yes Juliet" which is LRB on-disc (I have 5 others We the Kings songs from RBN, all of which would certainly be rated FF if they were rated).
