Count me in the "When I Was Your Age would be my #2 pick" crowd as well.
TAG seems pretty confident that it's just a matter of money, which means that the odds of success rest solely in the community's response to the actual Kickstarter. If the Weird Al fund is the first of these initiatives to go live, it stands a decent chance of hitting the big gaming blogs, which would probably be enough to at least get it funded.
I'm a little bit surprised, honestly. If it was really as simple as handing over X dollars to license a song like Dare to be Stupid, I'm puzzled as to why Harmonix never did so in the timespan when Al was talking about how he'd love to be in Rock Band in interviews and every gaming blog was covering that like it was news. I guess if their number crunchers came to the conclusion that it wouldn't be profitable, this could be our chance to prove them wrong. Or prove them right, I suppose. We'll see.
there's a lot of things about HMX that puzzle me
with Weird Al's wanting to be in Rock Band (I don't think that sentiment has changed), I'm personally hoping he gets wind of this once it hits and promotes it or at least comments on it to help spread the word to people who don't frequent the RB forums
We're all weavers at the loom of slaughter, but we will rise and make these victims our martyrs.
TAG? I'm it? what is this.
What I want to know is why Harmonix thinks MC Frontalot would sell better than "Weird Al." I'd bet my bottom dollar that a "Weird Al" pack would sell much better than either of the PAX packs (and don't get me wrong, I have both of those packs and am a fan of the artists in both packs -- but it seems to me that the niche for the PAX artists is smaller than the niche for "Weird Al").

53 Expert Pro Keys FC's under my belt. Most recent: #53 -- Everybody Wants to Rule the World -- Tears for Fears
Well I've had to talk with three different labels/departments to get as far as I have. Maybe Harmonix has always had one or not the other? I honestly don't know.
But I know it might seem easy, but believe me I've been tracking this down for weeks. And there's still a chunk of stuff I don't know where to find (hence the limited amount of song choices so far).

Weird Al is one artist in the history of all artists ever.
Besides, this is probably better. RBN can do his originals, Harmonix can potentially do the legwork for his parodies.
Witticus: "GeeNef speaks to me like schizophrenia, his words touch me where my priest could reach."
The PAX Collections were probably also dirt cheap to license (at least enough that Harmonix could sell them for half price), and have nothing to do with this.
