I wasn't even aware that that was a stereotype but I agree it sounds pretty awful.

Any half decent Punk band has a talented rhythm section, at least.

That is a really bad stereotype. If there was any truth to that, all of those American Idol fools would form punk bands.
Bands I'd love to see as DLC for Rock Band:

    Bathory []
    Bal Sagoth []
    Amorphis []
    Emperor [X]
    Enslaved []

Problem being that there are a lot of ones that aren't half decent. But I agree.

darkwinterbeast8: The AI contestants are all vocalists, though. They're going to go for the easiest things for them to sing, which means they'll just do whatever they've been doing out of familiarity.

Every punk band should replace their guitarists and bassists with more drummers.

Smash the system, don't pick at it.

True, and they're not even that good of vocalists to begin with.

RO: There really isn't any bad Shoegaze, at least from the many albums I've listened to. As I keep discovering more and more bands, it's all been quality stuff for the most part.

The finalists are typically at least decent, but it's still primarily a triumph of style over substance. Even the supposed "substance beats style" winners, Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard, both had plenty of style, just in unconventional methods that worked for them.

Isn't the point of punk kind of not to care about the artists' talents, democratisation of art?
It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now.
