I started playing Tiger Woods 12 this past week. It's fun, but ultimately I think I enjoy the Hot Shots Golf games more.
Played to the end of Max Payne 3's first disc. First impressions? Yeah, really good, although I have quite a few problems individually.
The character of Max is really well thought-out and completely in touch with the previous games, but so far, the actual story hasn't been going anywhere. Basically, you keep trying to rescue this kidnapped woman, but you're always just one step behind each time, just kind of missing out at the end of each level. It feels a bit unsatisfying.
The shooting is awesome, with a lot of variety within the base mechanics and enough setpiece moments of cinematic brilliance which keeps the tension running throughout. There's a great transition system where the final shot of the segment will be a "killcam" moment which immediately segues into a cutscene, which leads to another shootout and so on. So far, the pacing is great. Except for when you die.
Yes, Max Payne 3 is most certainly one of the hardest third-person shooters of this generation. Whilst core elements of bullet time and shootdodging are present, so too is cover. Max cannot take half as many salvos this time around, so you'll need them. I've died more times than I can count and I'm not that far in. So yeah, it's pretty tough.
The game also has weird visual effects, like Kane and Lynch 2, although nowhere near as nauseating. I think Rockstar may have been listening to Cipher's video game idea, as Max's vision upon using painkillers seems to get more screwed up each time, making for a moment of disorientation. This also happens a lot during cutscenes, next to some floating text that corresponds with dialogue. Not sure how to feel about that one at the moment.
But yeah, pretty alright so far. Very fun on its own, though perhaps not as eclectic and primally indulgent as The Darkness 2.

Currently shooting for the top 10 total Pro Keys ranks on 360.
The annoying visual effects such as lines of text popping in and out reminds me of a Tony Scott movie. Kinda like Deja Vu and Domino.

Play a bit of Super Meatboy yesterday. I haven't played in a while. I forgot how frustrating it is.

Yeah, a lot of Uncharted-esque difficulty gun battles in Max Payne 3 and it gets really frustrating when AI starts getting one-hit kill headshots on you right before a checkpoint. It's a lot of fun though when you're not raging and I really enjoy the story and cutscenes. I just wish they left more painkillers lying around since this game is really difficult and there are never any around when you need it. I'm actually having an easier time in the later chapters than in the beginning, I guess I was still getting used to controls and whatnot because I had a very hard time getting through the soccer stadium chapter. The AI just massacred me and I'm only on normal difficulty, can't imagine going to the harder difficulties, I wouldn't even be able to get through the first 3 chapters.![]()

Castle Crashers, Iron Brigade, and Trials HD are all 600MSP, trying to pick two.

Castle Crashers was a very, very fun few days with a friend, but it never had much staying power for me. Others have said they found a ton of replay value in it, though, so I don't know.

Resident Evil 2
The main reason why I never got into the early RE games were the terrible tank-like controls and trolling camera angles. I can understand the point of bad controls because the game developers wanted you to feel like you had no comfortable hold on the situation, just like what Leon and Claire felt when they entered the nightmare of Raccoon City.
So, first experience time:
Five seconds in and things aren't good for me. Four zombies immediately lurching towards me so I try to make a break for it and I run smack dab into one of them. After tossing him aside I keep "moving" down the alley where my first troll camera attempt gets me with an immediate change in view of me running straight into another zombie. Joy.
Met the gun shop owner and watched as he quickly became a snack. I didn't stick around to become the main course for the four break-ins.
Ran down another alley past a basketball court where a couple of guys were up to no good. Put my pistol to use until I realized if I was to survive I needed to adopt a "gun and run" strategy. Knock down enemies as need be and run around others when I can. I make it through the basketball court and move down another alley.
I come across a small dumpster that separates me from a small group of zombies. My RE friend told me I could stand on top of the dumpster and just use my knife while they can't reach me and I just aim down and cut away. Turns out they could reach me with some type of spitting vomit skill, but my knife kept knocking them down. Resilient SOBs. I was there for at least 5 minutes knifing these dudes in the head for them to just get back up and keep coming at me. Finally, three of them dropped dead and the last one was put in crawling status. I just said "Screw this" and jumped off the dumpster to make a run for it, or more accurately a fast limp for it. I was dying with no health in sight so I really needed to be careful.
Made it to the street in front of the police station. "I must be getting close to a typewriter" I thought as Claire limped with only a few bullets remaining. Well the game thought I put up a good effort and decided to reward me with another troll camera shift. This time into a pack of four zombies dining on a corpse. I desperately try to turn around and run, but I get grabbed and pinned to the ground.
