I've been playing some Sly 1 HD thanks to big_old_tom.
So far, the gameplay is quite puzzling. I was expecting a goofy stealth game that has platforming elements, but instead I got a goofy platforming game that has minor stealth elements that are barely there. I mean, it reminds me more of the classic Spyro games than Deus Ex. Which might be part of the problem. I'm playing it after Human Revolution, so my conception of stealth is... well heavy stealth

The story is the standard "Get 5 pieces of blah blah blah from blah blah blah", but the narration dump at the very beginning was painful to experience. Was there no other way to tell your story besides just flat out explaining everything at the beginning in a cutscene? And the motivations of the two friends are completely nonexistent, which they should be made clear since they're like... doing incredibly illegal things >_>

Either way, the gameplay is nice and the openworldness of each level feels nice and expansive, but the lack of direction leads to a lot of infuriating moments. I'm not asking you to hold my hand, but when one hit kills you, you should at least try to indicate where you need to go a little more clearly, or at least tell me that jumping in that direction is going to get my stupid ass killed. And the lives and savepoints system... just ugh.

Overall, the first impressions are pretty alrightish. Definitely going to continue later on.

I played Resident Evil 1 a bit before I got swamped by my backlog and found it INCREDIBLY fun. What's so bad about RE2?

Classic survival horror certainly isn't for everyone. Even if Resident Evil 1 is better, however, there's still a lot to like in the second installment.

Silent Hill 2 is much better, however.
