Yeah, I was thinking of this as well. The original version is good, but the re-recorded one is better, in terms of sound quality. I just hope that activision doesn't have the rights for the latter, since power gig had the original version if I recall correctly.

Did Power Gig use master tracks, or just an MP3? That could make all the difference in the world at what version. If the original has master tracks available, then it'll be that version.

from what i read back then. the GH3 version was re-recorded because they wanted to make the solo "more interesting" . it didn't say anything if the master tracks were not available. (it did say this at other tracks that were re-records/covers)

The Wikipedia page for Cult Of Personality says: "In 2007, the song was re-recorded and released for the video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock because the band no longer owns the rights to the original."

But at the bottom of the page it also says: "In 2007, Living Colour re-recorded the song for the video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock because the original master recordings could not be located. "

So I don't know which is the correct answer.
