BERYL IS OUT!
Beryl became a post-tropical storm earlier today as it passed Cape Hatteras, NC, officially ending the National Hurricane Center's pre-season updates. The NHC will resume regular Atlantic tropical weather updates Friday when Atlantic Hurricane Season officially kicks off. Beryl made landfall as a strong Tropical Storm Sunday night/Saturday morning at 12:15AM Eastern Daylight Time along the coast of Florida near Jackson Beach with sustained winds estimated at 70mph. Beryl set the record as the strongest Atlantic tropical cyclone to make landfall before June 1st.
+1 for pronouncing the name correctly! I actually used that as a pronunciation guide when talking to someone this week, lol.

And the Pacific has retaken the lead! Tropical Storm Carlotta formed overnight and Hurricane Watches have been issued for the coast of southern Mexico from Barra de Tonada to Punta Maldonado. If Carlotta makes landfall as a hurricane in Mexico it will be the first hurricane* of the season for North America.
*Assuming Beryl isn't upgraded to a hurricane in the post-season analysis.
