... Sorry, what? You must have completely missed my post back here.

I was defending Harmonix's decision to change the coins to as they are current. Not complaining at all. That's a ridiculous assumption you've made without even reading the context my posts were made in.

Do you have something against me or labelled me as some kind of bad guy? I think this is the second time I think you've called me out on something while completely reading me wrong.

It seems any time I read any thread on this forum, the last page of posts is you bickering about the dreamworld you want and how the math is still against you, arguing against any other people who dare trying to be realistic with you around.

I dropped in this thread, read the last few posts, including one with your "coins will still be limiting for most players.", and it seems you're still making the same whines you were making before the tweaks.

Surely using maths to back my point up is the definition of realistic? Not really sure who these people who were 'daring to be realistic' were anyway; there was clearly a problem with coins, which Harmonix has clearly seen themselves, and IMO the majority of the issue has since been addressed. Hoo-rah. Success. I'm now defending this choice against people who don't agree with it. It's just discussion, on a discussion forum.

Yeah, I'm arguing that coins will still be limiting for most players because people are saying these changes make the coin system useless, which I don't agree with. I think the majority of players will still have to balance coins because the majority of players are unable to reach gold star level; surely this is what is desired? Otherwise coins would be a useless figure (Which would be ultimately undesirable and pointless). Yes, IMO, the game would be better without coins but I'm not the sole audience here, and if this figure has to exist it should be one that requires managing but doesn't ultimately feel limiting and restrictive on the players. This is what the current coin level allows, I believe.

I'm saying people are having an easy time because they still have an untapped virgin song bonus on most tracks. My point was that once these dry up coins will be a figure that will deplete much faster, especially as players restart. I'm not arguing against the restart punishment (Even if I don't agree with it) because it would definitely make coins pointless if the current coin figures remain. And, hey, that's fine. It's much better balanced now in my opinion.

Does that explain better what I'm talking about?

Looks like now I can play all songs with full set of power-ups and still finish it with more coins then I had before playing it, which means basically infinite coins.

So, if coins never run out, why do we need them after all?

Well, that's really only if you gold-star every song. Gold-starring a song gets you 600 coins. A full powerup loadout costs 550 coins. This was done to offset the people who are allergic to Facebook (I can't believe I'm not in that group anymore) losing coins whenever they played with a full loadout and having no way to recoup them except 'farming' them by playing without powerups (which, admittedly, sorta sucks).

I do hope they'll eventually have more uses. Things you can spend like 20 or 30 thousand coins on. That would be awesome.

How about DLC? It could be like those ridiculous redemption tickets at carnivals and places like Dave and Buster's, where you spend a ton of money on the games and end up redeeming the tickets for prizes that are worth much less than you spent. The amount of money you'd have to spend buying DLC to amass enough of a coin bonus once you've played everything you own would be considerable, so why not charge some really high coin price for download codes for select DLC packs as sort of a promotion?

The difficulty might be in logistics with Sony and Microsoft, but it would be really cool if you could in some way turn your virtual RB coins into actual RB songs, even if at a really steep price.

If you don't get gold stars and it's your 2nd time playing a song = no profit.

It's a nice idea, but as you indicate, it would be difficult-to-the-point-of-impossibility to pull off.

True, but in all honesty, Gold Stars are really easy to get in this game if you are playing at all properly, outside of a few songs with weird checkpoint issues near the beginning, or songs that are particularly long and Jackpot isn't used effectively. (It seems that power-ups like Road Rage have diminishing returns the longer a song goes.) So it seems unlikely that people who are dedicated to the game would ever get to a point where not gaining a profit on a handful of tougher songs would make a dent in the huge coin stock they'll have built up by Gold Starring so many other songs on the first try.

You are *massively* overestimating the skill level of most players.

The overwhelming majority of players are not GSing songs on sightread.
