I'm not aware of the particulars, but sometimes bands / labels want to feature some songs over others. Also, with soundtracks, there are sometimes issues where a band is on one label but the soundtrack is on another or the original license holder of the song is on another, etc. There can be a lot more parties involved.
Cool to see another single from The Offspring. This is the 5th time that The Offspring has gotten DLC. Is there any other band that has gotten that many separate DLC releases? (aside from Foo Fighters, of course).
I didn't expect to see more Smash Mouth in the game. They're both 90's songs with keyboard parts, so I'm glad to get more of those. I might get Why Can't We Be Friends at some point.
Doesn't Smash Mouth only have 2 songs before these new ones (All-Star and Walking on the Sun)? That would only put us up to 4 songs from them. And The Offspring does have a decent amount of songs, but 8 songs spread out over 5 releases isn't nearly as much as some of the other bands in RB (particularly Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Queen).
DLC Wishlist:
The Cars
Depeche Mode
Interpol
Metallica
Muse
New Order
The Police
SMASH MOUTH?!?! YEEEEEEEE-
Wait.
Wait wait wait wait.
We get their awful cover of War's amazing Why Can't We Be Friends and not their amazing cover of I'm A Believer?!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ;_;

No thanks this week. I'm gonna be disappointed if HMX doesn't capitalize on The Killers new album next week. They're long overdue.
PS: I loved Made in Heaven
Friday, Dec 2nd, marks the greatest day of my RB life when they first announced the last 9-pack of Queen. HMX is my best friend
That would be the target. Especially since it seems the Mysterian version of "Can't Get Enough of You Baby" isn't really the original; it was written externally and The Four Seasons got to it first. Still, all their stuff was re-recorded in '97 and they've got other good tracks... here's hoping they respond to an email this time.

Wow. I thought Smash Mouth was one of those almost universally loved bands like The Killers. I've never ever met anyone on this planet whose hated them. I'm pretty blown away.
On the other hand, this week marks the first time a song that's released that I've listened to in my thread! Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Definitely gonna buy, but I would have loved You're Gonna Go Far Kid (my favorite The Offspring song).
