well, it may just be me... but whenever I heard a song on a show, the radio or whatever, I would attempt to find it... that's how I ended up with a lot of cassette tapes... and before that records... now I have lots of CDs and MP3s (and M4As)

of course since google has existed, that's been a lot easier than say calling radio stations, asking around school/work... yup. now a days, a few lyrics into google = song found. Pump it Up is terrible... sorry.

Personally I find Rock Band to be more diverse in song selection. Even though Guitar Hero tends to have more recognized songs I find the discovery aspect of Rock Band to be my favorite part.

diverse... yea, I guess... but I recognize all the songs from both... minus the terrible pop and country music crap... and "discovery" only happens for me in the RBN... the regular store has never had anything I hadn't heard of... ever. and aside from RB1 and 2 there were 0 indie bands on RB3 so music I didn't already know was non-existent. and their choices for version of songs I liked like Good Vibrations and I Feel Good... they shouldn't have bothered... and they should be ashamed. Now if you need a game to help you discover music popular enough to get into a game in the first place, that's your fault for not actively seeking new music. For me however, music is life.

Some of us weren't around when a lot of this was big. I knew a large chunk of the RB3 soundtrack, but it still had unknown gems that I love such as Poni Hoax, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Swingin' Utters, and The Raveonettes among many others. I live in the crevice of freaking Georgia where I have to listen to internet radio just to get something that isn't country, bluegrass, republican radio, or southern rap. We all don't have the same access.

Guitar Hero isn't exactly innocent in terms of bad versions. There are 6 live versions of songs in Warriors of Rock alone.

it's not that different... discovering is discovering... but my point is that if a song is on the disc, it was already popular enough on a different media to justify it being there. all I was saying.

But wouldn't the same logic say that if a song was on a show, the radio, or whatever; it was already popular enough on a different medium to justify it being there?

The extra song to complete that pack should be "Charlie Brown" or "Lovers In Japan", and that is an absolutely fantastic pack.
So long, farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, good night.

I knew Dover before RB3. They are still actually pretty big in Spain, though they are a completely different band than they were in the 90's. My favorite GH DLC was actually the 5 or 6 European packs, which most other people seemed to hate.
[] Dizzy Mizz Lizzy [] Dover [] Guano Apes [] More Miley Cyrus
