This movie was so weird, Pauline was definitely a crazy character. She was completely nuts, but she wasn't numb to everything. She just wanted to help her sister was all.

she did love her sister and you could see the lung transplant a mile away.

i also saw The Thompsons and while it may of been descent, i have to say i hated it. i can't sympathize with the "protagonists" and thought they all pretty much deserve to die. specially the twins.

I'm working on an essay on Enter the Dragon (1973). It's quite spectacular, but I think I'd rather see Hong Kong productions with Bruce Lee, like Fists of Fury (especially since I've found some interest in the Japan/China relationship recently).

On a similar note, I've been watching a lot of animes recently. I watched the whole Neon Genesis Evangelion series and was surprised by the progressive change in tone. It seems like a very unusual shonen to me. I'm currently watching Cowboy Bebop and it really is awesome. I loved Joss Whedon's Firefly, but he clearly borrowed a lot from Cowboy Bebop, and I prefer the latter. The movies Grave of the Fireflies, Jin-roh: The Wolf Brigade and Ghost in the Shell all amazed me. I'm excited to watch Paprika and especially Perfect Blue by Satoshi Kon and Tekkonkinkreet by Michael Arias.

    V/H/S - 2/10

A collection of random 'found-footage' stories that have nothing to do with one another, a Paranormal Activity version of Creepshow is the best I could put it, just not nearly as good. Found-footage horror movies should have been killed a year ago.

    The Day - 2/10

Cliche title, cliche movie, didn't expect much from a WWE Studios film and go figure, didn't get much out of it.

It was pretty great. TBH I never knew it was in black and white. I thought it was pretty creative and especially considering how young Smith was when he made it.
Oh, I wish I could go back to that point, that age, that setting and watch Clerks for the first time again.

Yeah, it's not a bad film. I wasn't a fan of the new kid, but Rosario was awesome, the set was awesome and it was just a cool movie. Kevin Smith doesn't get nearly enough credit for the inventing what is currently known as bromance films.

The Train Wreck making of series for Clerks 2 was awesome too. Definitely worth checking out online (or maybe they're all on the blu ray, i think the DVD had a couple but not all of them)

Aaaaanyway, I'm here to talk about a different film. The Visitor. It's a 2007 film from Thomas McCarthy (Writer/Director of The Station Agent and Win Win and story creator of Pixar's UP) and man I really dug it. It might have just been that I watched it at the right time on the right day, but this is a 10/10 film as far as I'm concerned. Sure, if I watch it with a critical eye again I'll pick up on its flaws but i loved it for what it was when I first saw it. Highly recommended.

i didn't enjoy the original clerks that much, but i really loved clerks 2. may be that black and white depresses me.

i watched Paranorman with my kid last night and we both really enjoyed it.

i love horror movies and i've been waiting to watch a little more horror with my son as he gets older. we started watching poltergeist last night, should be fun.

You should watch the Rebuild of Evangelion movies if you haven't yet. There are two out right now~ third came out in Japan just last month so it'll be a bit of a wait for it. The first is a bit of a recap, but from the second onward it's completely different from the original series.

Those were great.. Here's some suggestions for other anime films to watch...

    Anything from Studio Ghibli
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars by Mamoru Hosoda
5 Centimeters per Second, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, The Place Promised in our Early Days by Makoto Shinkai
Kara no Kyoukai series of films
    Akira
Lionel Richie - "Running with the Night"
    Camel - "Lady Fantasy"
Type O Negative, Bad Brains, Madonna

    More:
    Dire Straits, Interpol, The Strokes

I'm taking notes. I've seen Akira, though. It's what got me into japanese animation actually. That and the prior Miyazaki movies I had seen. I think Akira has my favorite film soundtrack.

Here's a list on RYM of some of my favorite anime films and miniseries, I'd like to help any media growth as possible as well.
