If it is 3 5 packs, I'm predicting:

    Muse Pack 1

    - "Knights Of Cydonia"
    - "Stockholm Syndrome"
    - "Supermassive Black Hole"
    - "Plug In Baby"
    - "Time Is Running Out"

    Rolling Stones Pack 1

    - "Sympathy For The Devil"
    - "Can't You Hear Me Knocking"
    - "Jumpin' Jack Flash"
    - "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"
    - "Brown Sugar"

    Arctic Monkeys Pack 1

    - "Brainstorm"
    - "This House Is A Circus"
    - "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor"
    - "Teddy Picker"
    - "When The Sun Goes Down"
May 20th, 2012: 4 long years since HMX released "Hysteria" by Muse. The wait for more Muse DLC has to end at some point, right?

The worst part about a possible Muse pack is that Uprising and some of their other newer stuff is almost guaranteed. And you all know my feelings about Uprising.

Perhaps the clue with the fire is Satan telling us "C'mon, Jump in the Fire-ah!"
Friday, Dec 2nd, marks the greatest day of my RB life when they first announced the last 9-pack of Queen. HMX is my best friend

666 minus one on every one is 555

    three five packs

goes along with the "variety" hint

So I'm guessing one of them will be a five pack of Muse. I imagine there will be some tracks from their newest album, which I would really like. I wouldn't mind some classics or some from their second newest album, but what can you do.

Someone earlier mentioned that the hint could be related to the last time we got David Bowie DLC.

There's a song on The Rise & Fall Of Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars called "Five Years" (it's the opening track, actually).

    David Bowie Pack 3

    - "Five Years"
    - "Starman"
    - "Aladdin Sane"
    - "Lady Grinning Soul"
    - "China Girl"

David Bowie has changed his stage persona a few times over the years (hence "variety").

I'm gonna say that, with the -1 over all numbers, I'm gonna say that it is 555

And the three fives stand for...

    5 year anniversary
    5-pack of Maroon
    5

666 is a reference to Hell.

In GH3 solo career, the last venue is Hell. Go one venue before that (-1) and it's the Japan venue.

Looking at the songs in that tier, we have all of them in Rock Band already except for one:

    "Knights Of Cydonia" - Muse
I was thinking possibly something similar to this with a different outcome.

666 is a reference to Iron Maiden's "The Number of the Beast" which is tier 8 song 3 of GH3's solo career. Before that (-1) (tier 8 song 2) is Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover" so possibly that.

The same analysis of Co-op career gives "One" by Metallica and RBR's theory applied to Co-op career gives "Helicopter" by Bloc Party. Bloc Party does seem like the most feasible except the fact they're on an independent record label of which HMX doesn't seem to release anything from independent record labels anymore.
    Wishlist (possible artists):
    [4] The Killers
    [1] The Cure
    [7] AFI
    [3] Sum 41
    [11] Linkin Park
    [51] Green Day
    [9] The Offspring

You guys are going to have to forgive me for not hopping aboard the Muse hype train, I just highly doubt it's Muse. That being said if Muse is announced I might go as crazy as RockBandRocker.
