dude, it was a mistake on microsoft's end. some people lucked out. get over it.
It is not like this is weeks after the fact. It just happened, and I am expressing my initial reaction to it, which is somewhat upset. Yes, of course, I *will* "get over it". I will probably never think it was completely fair, though.

Some people got 2 bucks worth of free content out of a Microsoft store goof that was rectified. If that's something you get upset about, I'd stay away from books from now on if I were you, because I'm afraid a paper cut might be lethal.

Its an honest mistake. One that happened what two or three times in 5 years and over 4000 songs?

Don't get too upset over it. This probably affected 10-20 people at most. A lot of people missed out on 1 free song. Chin up
SillyStou: What will happen to this place when Rock Band ceases to exist?
RockBandRocker: We will all migrate to the Dance Central forums. It will be like Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt.
Munnchy: Only Flashier, with impeccable dance moves.
RockBandRocker: With more glitter and glam. We will survive

Why would you avoid getting DLC on release day because of this? At best, a few people got a free song. At worst, they'll have to take two seconds to delete the song they didn't want.

Erm, is it just me, or are all of the background phrases removed from I Melt With You? I never heard a single "Let's stop the world", "You should know better", or "You should see why" while playing it on Rock Band just now. :/

I said I was somewhat upset, not very. My post was heavy-handed, I admit, but I was venting. I am usually a very positive poster and say very good things about this game (in the anniversary thread, for instance).

Edit: I have to be honest, I am hurt by the papercut comment (being sincere here). I don't take insults well. I know that is no one else's problem, but I just felt I had to say it.

Heh, it had me double-checking which thread this was. "He's gonna lock the DLC thread tomorrow, wut?"

It's not an insult, it's teasing, or mockery at worst... And sometimes we all need to be mocked a little to realize how silly we're acting. Again, if it's something you're truly hurt by, you might just need slightly thicker skin.

so what do you suggest that? that hmx and microsoft personally visit every person who accidentally DL'ed the wrong track and force them to delete it? it's not like there's any way to remotely force the Weight file to be undownloaded and uninstalled for those who got it by mistake. and if you think this was "unfair" i'd hate to know what you think about all those contests HMX runs where some people get free DLC and most of the rest don't.
