Basically because there's no way to do it without selling an identity. But it's, sure, entirely possible that in a console gen or three it won't be like that anymore.

Identity in the loosest term, the only thing tied to my account is a anonymous hotmail account with fake info.

    1) Can we please stop with this talk that the wiiU is going to get any kind of RB3 re-release. And also, as a general rule, we need to stop with this talk of the wiiU being the first of a new generation. Its the last to the party of this generation. the old wii is a PS2 with a cool controller. The wiiU is barely on par with ps3 & xbox 360 but does indeed have an even cooler controller. (and this is coming from somebody who is bound and determined to get a wiiU - I'm not a hater, just a realist)

    2) Ok, back on track - I don't believe we'll see a Rock Band 4. We'll see DLC as long as possible for HMX to do so. But I do believe we'll see one more title update in which they try to give us as much as they possibly can and still have it "play nice" with the game we have in hand.

Everything dies, baby. That's a fact.

But maybe everything that dies some day comes back.

HMX are a bunch of smart people. I don't think they want to flat leave people who have spent thousands of dollars on downloadable content.

There may not be another "performance simulation" version of Rock Band ever planned, but I'd have to think that they're still working on ways to leverage the existing/massive libraries that they offer and their users already have.

I have a plant that died when I was in college, It's still dead. How long before I should give up hope?

Your overlooking the most important part. True HMX semms like a great company but profit does affect descions. They're not going to leverage the DLC if it costs them too much money. Ask Wii users who want RBN dlc.

If the only way to remain profitale as a company is to ditch RB, they will.

I think Harmonix would be fools not to release another version of Rock Band on the next generation consoles.
However, if they don't make the DLC cross-compatible (at least ps3 -> ps4 and xbox 360 -> xbox 720), they can basically kiss their consumer base good-bye.

It may not even be possible to make DLC cross-compatible, for licensing reasons. If you've seen what happens to some disc songs when a new game comes out, you know not to assume anything.

Personally, I would only buy the new xbox if there is a RB4 on the future console.

    AND

I think rock band could make a huge come back if they add some improvements to the actual instruments. I would put RB4 as a line-up tittle to promote it.
    We need more:

    Cake
    Chevelle
    Gaslight Anthem
    Incubus
    My Chemical Romance
    Rise Against
    Sick Puppies
    Sum41

There's not very many Wii users, that's an invalid (i fixed my word like 3 times now... tiredddd) argument.. look at Wii Dlc sales... they are barely over 1000 most the time, even ps3 hits 1000 quite a bit and it looks almost dead to me now. (It's the same people with couple new now)

That'll be the end of the Harmonix reign than. Because i don't see many putting hundreds of dollars back into this game. And they know this.. sales are already low as is.
