Of course it isn't, because you say it isn't.

So now we've changed from 'RB is a stinking, festering corpse' to 'the end is nigh.'

Sadly, I think that is something we can all agree on. Just how "nigh" might be a point of contention, but nothing beyond that.

I expect to see Rock Band 4 as a next gen tittle with dlc till then.

This is pretty much what I expect, though I would aslo expect it to be released on all the older platforms (except maybe the Wii).

It might be a full blown version, or it might be a downloadable shell with only a few songs, but I expect them to embrace the platform.

They may or may not also support "all guitars" in a new pro mode, but I don't see them upgrading old songs (current songs can't support tone recognition, sorry).

I'd say there's about an 80% chance that RB4 won't get made, and about 99.99% chance it won't get made for a next-gen system. It would alienate all of those with RB instruments but no new console, and everyone who wants RB4 for the new system, but can't play it because there's no new instruments beng made.

You're talking next-gen exclusive, rather than next gen and previous gen inclusive. I mean, didn't RB2 come out on the PS2?

That it did, but you know, heyday of the genre and all that. Neither band-centric title came out for PS2.

Regarding peripherals, I agree that five-button guitar may get tough (at the same time I would imagine a lot of second-hand instruments being findable as people give up the game), and pro guitar at some point too, but as long as you can get your hands on a few midi pro adapters, you're fine for keys and drums.

I'll probably buy an XBox 360 (finally!) if there's no Rock Band on the new consoles. Then I can play Dance Central, I hear that game is fun. Ideally, I'd also buy an account that already has a boatload of RB DLC on it ... surely that it possible, even if you're not allowed to advertise such transfers on this message board, right?

I would expect new DLC for current consoles to continue until about 2014, regardless. We'll see.

Buying an account is technically illegal and against the user agreement for XBL.
