You're correct I'm splitting hairs, but so are you. I just asked who would be make the instruments for a downloadable game. The average consumer who wanted to get into the game would have to download the game and then order the istruments and wait for them to arrive. Takes alot of the impulse buying that downloadable games rely on out of the factor. So the new instruments would largely be marketed to hardcore players who already have instruments.

Not exactly a market I would forsee a company jumping at the opportunity for.

New instruments could be ordered through the Rock Band Store just like the DLC.

Not if they don't think there's enough of a player base for it to be profitable (and all I'm talking about is a new run of instruments....lol RB4, sure), and how likely is that to change, really?
Its all about demand and assumptions. The question was posed who would make instruments for a next Rock Band game. The answer to that would be Madcatz. Assuming there would be a new run of instruments Madcatz would make them, which is what was asked.

If there were to be a Rock Band 4 they would at the least do a limited run of instruments even if its just guitars, just like they did with Rock Band 3.

You stated a hypothetical, new Rock Band who would make instruments. I answered that and you kept argue it.

Yeah I totally see RB getting back into the instruments market.

This is YOUR assumption, I choose to assume otherwise.

Incorrect, I only replied when you said the same company currently making them.

The fact is it's a catch-22. Madcatz will never make more instruments without more players, there will never be an RB4 without more instruments, and without RB4 there will not be any new players.

There's a word for that, and I believe that word is '****ed.'

At least until the new generation of consoles start being announced. Seems like that's what everyone is waiting for.

And therein lies the RB problem. It's not that there aren't fans (both old and potentially new) that would buy a RB 4. It's not that HMX doesn't want to make a new game or have given up on the title (because it's obvious they haven't). It's that RB as we know it is dependant on peripherals that we can assume are expensive to make and difficult to distribute. Concidering the current state of the genre and factoring in the crap economy; well, that's a damn hard sell to investors or any potential peripheral manufacturer/distributer. And you would need both for a new RB to happen, not just HMX's willingness to make the game and our willingness to buy it.
But I believe in this and it's been tested by research: he who [edit] nuns will later join the church.

Dev Kits for development. I mean, launch day games don't just make themselves.

Neither Sony nor Microsoft have confirmed the existence of an 8th gen console under construction, have they? I mean, we all know that they are, but it's not something they're splashing around with. And even if it was, like I said, HMX is a guppy in a pond. Whales like Activision and Bethesda would get their hands on it first.

Put another way -- if we had the first (official) clue of when Launch Day was for those consoles, then I'd agree with you that they're probably out there. But we don't.

Devs get dev kits long before there is any announcement of the consoles existence.
