    DanManRocker's Ultimate Set-List

    My ultimate set-list.

Disregard all of the authorizing and licensing stuff for a while. Throw that out of the window and into the sun.

Forget that some of these songs are already in Rock Band. Think about a new Rock Band that could put in some DLC songs. Or imagine this being an entirely new game. Or something else I can’t think at the top of my head.

Try to think that this would be my idealistic, not realistic ULTIMATE SETLIST.

    Good.

Edit: And two-to-three songs for bands I know better. Maybe more quality and quantity there.

There's quite a few things I disagree with here. Of coarse, I know the "Best ____ Part" lists are debatable, but how is Freebird #1? It's dull as hell the first half, and the solo isn't as fun as some of the other solos on this list.

Also, there's quite a few Rock Band repeats that I would have personally went with a different song with. It's nothing to do with the fact that they're repeats, but that the artists in question have much more awesome stuff that is either available or isn't available already. Just a few I can think of:

    - Deep Purple: Sure, Highway Star is fun, but I feel that maybe Fireball or Burn would be even more fun, especially on keys.
    - Dream Theater: Sure, it's their most popular song, and I've put it on my setlists before, but that was for realism's sake. If this isn't supposed to be realistic at all, why not get something more interesting in there. Hell, I'd clamor for "Metropolis Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper" which is on the same album.
    - DragonForce: Same thing; most popular song, but there's better. I know people make fun of Ultra Beatdown for it's name, but that album has some really crazy keys that could be just as challenging as guitar.
    - Men At Work: Okay, I understand Down Under being picked, but if I were to pick out of the two songs we have available, I'd pick Overkill. It's just that much more fun to play.
    - Dethklok: While yeah, Thunderhorse is popular for being on GH2 and not Rock Band, wouldn't it make since to have something with a little more vocals that saying "Thunderhorse" a few times, coupled with the word "ride"? I'm not saying many of Dethklok's songs would be exciting on vocals unless you enjoy death growls, but at least have something there. Besides, their other songs have just as interesting or more interesting instrumental work.
    - Iron Maiden: Out of all the songs we have; out of all the epics we have available; you pick the least fun? I'm not saying it isn't fun, I'm just saying that such songs as Fear of the Dark, Phantom of the Opera and Wasted Years would provide more fun.

It's not a bad setlist. I'd buy the hell out of it for such artists as Meatloaf, Primus and Queen, but I'm just saying there's some lost opportunities here.

    - Believe me, I really thought about that too. If I can find another song to replace it, okay.

Also, there's quite a few Rock Band repeats that I would have personally went with a different song with. - Deep Purple: Sure, Highway Star is fun, but I feel that maybe Fireball or Burn would be even more fun, especially on keys.
--I personally like Highway Star more. Though, those come in way second.
-- Personally, I'm not a huge thrash metal guy. And sadly, besides that Rock Band 2 song... I've never heard of any of their stuff. But, just because it's not on my ultimate set-list, doesn't mean it will be on yours.
    - DragonForce: Same thing; most popular song, but there's better. I know people make fun of Ultra Beatdown for it's name, but that album has some really crazy keys that could be just as challenging as guitar.
-- Again, like above. I just have a different kind of taste than you do. All I'm saying.
    - Men At Work: Okay, I understand Down Under being picked, but if I were to pick out of the two songs we have available, I'd pick Overkill. It's just that much more fun to play.
I think I'd put the Acoustic version on here then. Overkill on acoustic sounds way better than the original
Besides, their other songs have just as interesting or more interesting instrumental work.
    ... Agreed.
    - Iron Maiden: Out of all the songs we have; out of all the epics we have available; you pick the least fun? I'm not saying it isn't fun, I'm just saying that such songs as Fear of the Dark, Phantom of the Opera and Wasted Years would provide more fun.
    Personal opinion once again
It's not a bad setlist. I'd buy the hell out of it for such artists as Meatloaf, Primus and Queen, but I'm just saying there's some lost opportunities here.

    And thanks.

I can't tell if I like this or not. I mean, sure it's like a "best of everything" setlist, but that's my main beef. It only has the most popular songs from most people, but those aren't always the best of a band. Plus there's nothing besides first and second tier names, which leads to a bit more boringness than if there were songs from less known bands.

Also, you spelled Crushcrushcrush wrong, forgot to highlight Glory Days, and it's Sparks, not The Sparks.

Alright, it's not that. It's the dream set-lists I would like to play with.

    First and second tier names?

    And thanks.

Well of course it is. I know that. Hell, if this was actually made, who wouldn't want it? But there's not a whole lot of... originality? I don't know.

By first and second tier names, I mean bands that pretty much everyone knows about and the songs they would, for the most part, recognize as by them. Part of the fun of rhythm games is finding new songs that you like that you may never have heard before.

Also, another typo: you spelled Nirvana with two N's.

    I see.

    Thanks for the input there.

And thanks for catching that typo.

... Screw it, I'll do two-to-three songs for bands I have more songs for. Maybe there will be more appeal to this.

Yeah, that was pretty much all what I'd do if it'd be my setlist. It's your setlist, though, so if you prefer something I don't, that's okay.

BTW, Dream Theater and DragonForce are NOT thrash metal. Prog metal for Dream Theater, power metal for DragonForce.

    Oh, I see.

But, I think I should add in more songs I know, because, you're right, it's not fun ENOUGH.
