This is apparently true, according to a 2008 Rolling Stone article.

The band also had to re-record several of the songs, since their labels, Geffen and Columbia, couldn't locate the master tapes.

I believe the four re-records were "Dream On", "Make It", "Movin' Out", and "Mama Kin".

Why we're getting this live version of "Dream On" instead of the re-record is another mystery.

Wrong, the Billy Joel 6-pack had only 1 upgrade. Same with the Pat Benetar pack.

Also, the Bob Marley 8-pack, John Lennon 9-pack, and February Heartache 7-pack. But my point was more about how rare 6-packs are these days.

That is a good question. I believe song choices are, ultimately, the label's call. So maybe they thought this live version was better. Who knows. (Personally, I probably would have preferred the re-record, but it is what it is)

Eh, I can't complain. I know what I'm getting with live Aerosmith, so I'm good with the live version. If I was a singer I see the obvious issue, but I suck at singing so as a guy who only has to worry about matching buttons on a screen, any version works for me.

Yeah. I only play guitar myself. It really is such a minor complaint compared with the big picture (we are getting Aerosmith!) It is essentially arguing which shade of awesome I like better.

Something odd, though. Andrew WK's DLC release announcement got an article on IGN (rather unusual), but this doesn't.

Because Andrew W.K. is more important to the mainstream than Aerosmith.

Pretty much. I can't wait until PSN updates on Tuesday afternoon. I have the day free, so I know I'm going to be checking the store as often as I can to get a jump on the download. I even entered the giveaway, though I have no problem at all dropping the $10 on the pack and I already own the deluxe edition of their new album. Maybe I'll get a t-shirt!

I've liked plenty of DLC and discovered tons of new bands through Rock Band; but these are the songs - this is the DLC that makes the last five years of playing worth it for me. SO psyched for this release.

I really do not think that is true. I think, even in 2013, even among the younger generation, Aerosmith is waaay more well-known than Andrew WK.
