Toys In The Attic is an amazing album and often regarded as one of their best.

One of the fascinating things about this (and their other early) album(s) is that they wrote a great album without really trying to write hits or singles, as they did with Permanent Vacation and Pump and everything after that. Still, these (and even their newest albums) produced great songs.

But listening to Toys, Draw The Line, Rocks, or their debut album, you realize these are amazing musicians with incredible potential. These aren't guys emulating the blues. These are blues musicians who took it to the next level.

Drugs and ego eventually tore the band apart, but they were smart enough in the late 80's to realize that they still had chemistry, and went back to working together (Tyler/Perry are an amazing songwriting combination that I rank with Lennon/McCartney and Elton John/Bernie Taupin) and rose like a phoenix from their own ashes to produce some of the biggest hits of their lives.

GH:Aerosmith came out before I was ever into rhythm games, I didn't have a console, and it was the first time I was ever intrigued by the concept. I would love to see what Harmonix could have done with the full Aerosmith catalog, and I'm sad I'll never see that happen, but I'll take what I can get. And if this small pack gets people to say "Hey, I should really give Toys In The Attic a listen, it's worth it."

And in closing, I have no idea why I decide to write the short history of Aerosmith. Sorry 'bout that.

(I'm kind of excited about this pack. I hope to do the same when they blow my mind announcing the Genesis pack)
    Does Spotify cost money?

As far as Aerosmith goes I'm mostly familiar with their big hits and I've been trying to get non greatest hits albums from bands I like so I can hear stuff outside of the big hits and Aerosmith might be next on my list.

    Hahaha. Glad it was appreciated.

I was just listening to "Seasons of Wither" and was going to recommend that, but figured it's just easier to point to their whole discography.

Even the new album has some good tracks, namely "LUV XXX", "Out Go the Lights", and "Street Jesus". It too, like Aerosmith records after their resurgence, has its' fair share of 'trying to be a hit single' ballads (this latest album is especially heavy on them). Lyrically, it's a little weak, but they can still bring it musically when they want to.[QUOTE]

I was initially apprehensive at the "new tracks" that were in this pack, but once I saw the announcement video and the little bit I saw of them, to me it sounded like same old Aerosmith, and I knew I'd enjoy them. Plus, I'm in the camp of "even if you don't love one song in the pack, every sale tells Harmonix that they did good", so it's a complete purchase for me.

No, Spotify is free unless you choose to upgrade to ad-free (sometimes after a song has finished an ad is played before the next song comes on).

Spotify is free in a limited capacity. I think you need to pay to listen to albums on demand on your phone or iPod, but if you're sitting at your computer, it's absolutely free (with the occasional rare commercial).

Aerosmith is one band that died in the late 70's, came back in the late 80's and early 90's, and were actually good and are still producing. But if you want to learn about Aerosmith, check out everything up to Draw The Line. After that came "Night In The Ruts" and that's when they were falling apart. "Rock And A Hard Place' was an album they did without Joe Perry and Brad Whitford (who exemplifies how important a rhythm guitar player can be). Side note: At this time "The Joe Perry Project" became a thing, and "Let The Music Do The Talking" is an amazing song that Aerosmith brought into their fold once they got back together.

After both bands went nowhere, they came back with Permanent Vacation, and blew the doors off rock radio.

    I should stop now.

I was going to link to that, but it's hardly a glowing examination of their career, so I figured I wouldn't be the buzzkill in this thread!
