A suspended chord is when the major third or minor third in a chord is replaced with another note. Suspended fourth (the common one) is when the 3rd goes up the fourth in the scale. When you play it, it'll sound like you really want to bring it down to a major chord to make it all pretty. Here's a quick little audio example.
