Porno ended the VHS/Betamax format debate in the late 70's/early 80's. Sony, who owned Betamax, kept strict licensing control and refused to allow pornography on what it considered it's family friendly format.

JVC had no such restrictions on VHS and the porn industry used that to their advantage, using the format almost exclusively. Soon, most video stores had developed a "back room" for the budding home porn business. This advantage kept VHS afloat and eventually Betamax became a thing of the past. (Although didn't completely disappear until the early 90's as many film collectors felt it had better quality video)

Speaking of porn trivia, back in my college days a pub quiz I attended had a sex-themed round, which had the question "which famous porn star has the initials JJ". Most of our team knew the answer (including all of the women, interestingly enough), but a friend of mine on another team wasn't so lucky... he knew the answer, but since his then-gf (who was a bit on the sexually conservative side) was on his team he was a bit hesitant to be the first to say it. The problem was that none of his teammates knew the answer, so he was left with an interesting dilemma: either answer and possibly end up in the doghouse, or forfeit the point and possibly lose the quize, because the top teams (his, ours and a third) were all only a few points apart.

His competitive nature won out in the end, which led to some awkward moments with the GF. And the saddest part is that they didn't even win the quiz.
