Well i managed to beat a few of my jack/flame scores 1st try so it shouldn't take long to get accustomed to it again. Finally 5 lane songs are fun again. I hated 5 lane pinball
And 4 lane I can now get crazy scores on easier songs. Might buy some songs I wouldn't buy before with nerfed flames now.
I have a ton of scores to chase now >_>
Thanks again Pope and Aaron and I know we gave you a lot of crap for this especially myself, so I apologize for that. I am glad I can reach some of my scores without having to play Arkanoid or use blast notes again.
Thanks a lot Pope and Aaron for sorting out this flame notes issue. Now we can finally get top scores without the use of pinball (I tried pinball and hated it so went to blast notes) and I may finally be able to regain my #1 on "Shadow of the Day"
As far as I'm concerned, no one there is QUALIFIED to balance this game after what you and an entire team of testers and devs thought was a good idea. Saying this was a group effort makes it all that much worse and just goes to show that no one's head is on straight.
Like I said before, I doubt this will bring me back to Blitz. My trust has been totally destroyed. There is absolutely nothing from preventing you from pulling a stunt like this again. While you are over there worried about gold stars being devalued with your changes, I would be over here worried that all my time, effort, skill, and progress are going to be devalued.
I think one of us has a lot more to lose.
Dude, that's a little harsh, especially after the majority of players got what they wanted. If you don't want to play the game any more, that's your prerogative, but the grandstanding and chest thumping is getting a little old. If you still feel you have to give Harmonix a piece of your mind, there are more appropriate venues than this.
It's all right. Everything will work out fine.
It's all right. We're going to the end of the line!
I this instance we made a change to benefit one area of the community and it had an unintended and adverse (and poorly communicated) affect on another part of the community. We saw that reaction, listened to the feedback, pushed to roll that change back at the soonest opportunity, and we pulled developers off of more pressing projects to make the change. Restoring flame notes was not a business decision, and we don't expect to gain from it in any way shape or form. It won't sell any more copies of Blitz and it's unlikely to move the needle on DLC sales in any meaningful way. It's a change that we made purely as an act of community goodwill, because it's what the hardcore fans in this thread lobbied for.
We don't have any plans to make additional changes. If for whatever unlikely reason that plan changes, we've learned from our past mistakes and will make every effort to improve communications, testing, and community involvement. But as we ramp up on new projects, chances of that happening are awfully slim.
But if what's happened has so irreparably ruined the game for you and you choose to stop playing, that's fine, that's your call. Hopefully the majority of the people in this thread are pleased with the change and trust that we took their feedback to heart.
EDIT: Sorry, I had this in my browser for a while so I didn't see HMXHenry's message before I posted.

Although the restoration will hurt my scores personally as a prime pinball player, I'm very glad and thankful that you restored flames. It may bring back some of the competitive fire into players like Zage, who from discussion I knew was getting tired of pinball (given, he has about 5 times my Blitz cred even though our scores are pretty even).
I am pretty naturally good at pinball, with some very high X-plat ranks and very few attempts (as few as 4 and max of only 60) on the main setlist songs. I will continue to compete in this game with my bouncing counterpart, but I welcome back my flame overlords and hope I can continue to compete with them.
I guess I'll just need to get a whole lot more of those 250K pinballs.
Did pinball win every single tournament?
I rest my case.
First you don't have the resources to rebalance the game the way you wanted so you nerf something you thought was abusable...for three months...
I would of hoped that you would have made a better effort to balance other power-ups during that time period and done so without nerfing.
I feel like I loved this game more than some of the people that worked on it. Why not give balancing it another shot before totally wiping your hands clean of it. There are power-ups that are still just as useless as when flames were nerfed.
The game is done, why not put forth the extra effort to make things right?
Because you didn't. You guys supported Blitz through the goals system, rock band world facebook page, and then tournaments that I'm sure were all planned. Along with the quick fix for playing over 1000+ songs. (Although how that didn't come through in QA testing still boggles me)
It seems only now that its a a waste of time, money, effort. Reminds me of the XMB boot. Only difference is you have the tools at your fingertips to buff anything.
I was the guy who played this day in and day out competing on the overall leaderboard. Then this happened and I stopped cold turkey. The skillset I had with flame juggling is not what it once was.
I'm very pleased you reverted it back. But 3 months is a long time.
3 months is a long time...
Now that the tournaments are over I am still curious, how did player traffic fare with the changes? Did the nerf increase/decrease player traffic? Did the tournament increase participation? I'd love to see a graph of player traffic through the entire lifetime of Blitz. It would make for an interesting study.
