It's probably just me but... (regarding Rolling Stone 100 Greatest Guitarists list)

    http://www.rollingstone.com/news/sto...all_time/print

I was bored yesterday, so I looked up this list again after having seen in numerous times. Now, I might be just imagining it, but I could have sworn that the list originally included Gary Rossington of Lynyrd Skynyrd, in addition to some other things I noticed.

Again, I might be just remembering wrongly, but I thought it was worth bringing up anyway.

    We should work backwards then.

Maybe some editing was done without a post on it.

I took you up on your challenge :P

Honestly, I don't know how John Frusciante or Tom Morello, among others rank much higher than Frank Zappa. That is sheer blasphemy. This list seems much more like it's based on popularity. On the other hand, which top anything list isn't?

He was a bit sloppy, it can't be helped that he's lower on the list. Just be glad that they acknowledged Zappa.

True. I was expecting to be disappointed when I searched for his name, haha. Rolling Stones has frequently acknowledged Frank Zappa, but always to a lesser extent than many undeserving musicians. That is not to say that those musicians in question are bad, but how they can be placed above Frank Zappa is beyond me. That might come from my completely subjective love for anything Frank Zappa, though, but I think I'm safe in saying that Frank Zappa was a much better musician than any of the Chlli (especially guitar-wise, considering they're a bass-centric band)

RS is probably referring to songs like Snow for RHCP.

I haven't checked, but I hope that Alex Lifeson isn't high on the list. He's great, but his solos can be quite sloppy. And there are quite a few who perform live to a T. And Alex doesn't improvise much either, which is a setback as well.

Knowing that you are a huge Rush nut, I did the closest thing to a double-take you can do while looking at a computer screen, and actually disagree with you on the sloppyness.

He does seem to hate improvising, though.

Come on guys... Who cares about John Frusciante... Why the **** are Jack White and Johnny Ramone there?

Also, I thought that Steve Howe was higher last I checked.
