    come here for music recommendations.

i'm sure there's been one of these in the past, but i've been seeing several instances where a thread like this would be really useful to keep bumped.

just tell us what you're looking for, or even just what you're into and what you'd like to find. a few examples below...

i'm really digging these mission of burma tracks in the DLC this week. what else should i check out if i'm unfamiliar with this sorta stuff?

i'm new to metal and would like beginners' suggestions for the various subgenres i see mentioned all over the forums.

i wanna get buff. give me energetic music recommendations i can put on my ipod and take to the gym.

i'll do my best to keep up, but it'd be awesome if others will help out.

    Best starting point for Opeth?

Great thread idea, by the way. Kudos to you.

I got one, recently I downloaded Mastodon's Leviathan. What do you guys suggest focusing on when first listening to the band? A overall listen to the songs doesn't seem to be clicking.

Blood and Thunder, drums are amazing.
To be honest i would have picked up Blood Mountain, that album has an Ozzy feeling to it, in my opinion. Just an opinion of course.

    Any one else?

Agreed. Also, I'd love to contribute.

Edit: Where should I start with The Moving Sidewalks? Set Me Free just came on last.fm and I love it.

I'll help as needed. I'm not too into Opeth, so I can't help yet, but I'll help as soon as someone asks about something I enjoy.
Would you pay for music by Beck?
    Maybe.
What if you heard he owned a plane made of gold?
    Sure.
Good, because he needs the money.
