Yeah, I was unclear what term to use, but I was referring to mainly the early styles of Sludge that had a ton of Hardcore Punk influence. I'll definitely pick these up.
Despite all my rage, I'm still just Nicolas Cage

Seconding these, especially !T.O.O.H.!, outstanding band. The Gloominous Doom and Phlebotomized are also worth mentioning, though not as strange as the other bands, but great nonetheless.

assuming you're just dabbing into it, so if some of these are obvious give me a mulligan. Id start with:

The Cure - Three Imaginary Boys
The Chameleons - Script of the Bridge
Siouxsie & the Banshees - The Scream

for more contemporary stuff, go with:

    Editors - The Back Room
    The Horrors - Primary Colours
Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights
    RADIOHEAD--OK COMPUTER

    and...

    DMB
    Leonard Cohen
    Editors
    Carbon Leaf
    The Notwist
    Victor Wooten
    The National
    OAR
    The Chameleons
