Yeah The Doors have some slightly tinged folksy stuff, especially that last album with all the spoken word and then you got songs like Peace Frog etc. They definitely grew out of the mid 60s psychedelic/blues/folk scene and I do have the DVD where The Doors are playing at the Northern Californian Folk fest. Wouldnt call them so much folksy though, but the animals and the doors share similiar styles of instrumental direction, for sure, especially with that keyboard focus and I really like the lyrical content of both bands. Hard to find similiar bands to The Doors though, looking for the obscure ones and theres not many.

The new one's their best, honestly, but you should also try out Frost, Vikingligr Veldi, Eld, and Ruun.

    Some Yes recommendations?

The first song I heard by them was Owner of a Broken Heart as my Dad really likes it. Then Roundabout as I heard it was going to be on RB3, and then recently Closer To The Edge. I really like all of these songs so I thought I should listen a little more to Yes.

It's "Owner of a Lonely Heart" and their Progressive Rock era is miles ahead of their Pop/Rock one. Anyway, I started with Fragile, then went to The Yes Album, and Close to the Edge third.

Argh can't believe I made that mistake, I corrected someone on it earlier so it must have been stuck in my mind

The Yes Album is probably the one I spin the most, but you can't go wrong with any of those three.

I like to think of it as "Owner of a Fairlight CMI," since that was Rabin's biggest contribution to the sound...

****ing loving Enslaved's Isa, perfect blend of melody, blackness and not over bearing blast beats....more from Enslaved or similar please.
