i'm not sure... john's a very weird guy, and i haven't had any contact with him in something like 5 years...

i haven't contacted him (i try to just not think about MG in RB for my own sanity), but it never hurts to try (i'd use the official web-site)...

they're supposedly gonna be on the colbert show in a week or two. i've never seen that either, but i'll have to find a youtube/hulu link to check that out. i don't think he's ever played on cable TV before.

I can't really narrow it down to one straight album since there is a lot of diversity from their punk days, to their recent music, but this is what I can suggest atm. "Sing the Sorrow" is a good start for their newer sound, it's one of my favorite albums from them. "The Art of Drowning" is a good start for their mid career and "Very Proud of Ya" is a good earlier album.

yes sir, it's the album just prior to the one i recommended (which i just noticed still isn't officially released until next month)...
it's a bit more chaotic and noisy than "earthly delights", but i enjoy all of their albums so i'd still definitely suggest it.

the drummer for megasus plays bass for lightning bolt, by the way.

Weeds might be the best show on television. The whole concept should appeal to you to.

As for Colbert, he is a completely and utterly awesome human being. And his musical guests are almost always awesome. He was streaming the Flaming Lips album recently on his website.

It's pretty kick ass, just what I was looking for. From the sounds of it he plays bass almost as well as he drums!

yeah, dude's incredible. they're a far better live band than recorded, as well... it's pretty insane seeing two men make that much awesome racket all by themselves.
