What would be a good band for similar shoegaze like influenced indie pop like Whorl?

the only whorl i've ever heard was more of a noise-rock sorta thing... almost like the jesus lizard covering the jesus & mary chain.

That descriptions work I was trying to think of a good way to describe them and that's what I came up with, wasn't too good though. I'll check into the crocodiles and astrobite today.

Edit:Although then again, did you ever check into the Maybe It's Better 7"?

it's probably easiest for newcomers to start with johnston in the form of a greatest hits/compilation, but if you want to start with an album i'd say "1990" is one of the more accessible ones.

for antony, go with "i am a bird now" unless you're more interested in his new wave stuff, then go with the self-titled.

i believe i had a whorl discog folder (which, if i'm not mistaken, was less than 10 songs haha), but it's been a while.

If I listen to more Mastodon, are there any albums I should avoid? I've only heard Leviathan.

i think the latest mastodon album is easily their worst, but i wouldn't say it should be avoided necessarily.
