LOL at the tags!!!
i want find good indie music because i have a lot of variety of mainstream music, but not enough indie. The genres i really like are: pop-punk, prog rock, metal (preferably on the softer side), and punk. the genres i dont like: post hardcore, folk, Death Metal, Doom/Black Metal, physcadelic. Im also looking for electronica bands, or any band similar to Silversun Pickups because i heard Panic Switch on the radio and really like it.
Ive heard TV on The Radio and sorta like em but im not really lovin them.
can anyone give me any suggestions?

Well the genres you dont like are my specialty, heh.
More metal in Rock Band:

-look up My Bloody Valentine, they are most similar to Silversun Pickups, not Smashing Pumpkins like you'll hear ppl say
-since you like Punk, an Indie band with some Punk styles would be Los Campesinos! check them out as well.
-Indie bands with a more Poppy sound to them~
The Shins
The Flaming Lips
Broken Social Scene
of Montreal
The New Pornographers (you know them from RB)
Architecture In Helsinki
and Death Cab For Cutie
-if you like Prog Rock check out Muse if you already haven't
-and if you like softer metal (oxymoron?) check out Rage Against The Machine

I've got a few. I really enjoyed alex chilton from rb2. Are all replacements music that style?
I also really enjoy painkiller - but little other judas priest stuff offered from rb. Any suggestions? I liked the technical instruments and vocals. I hate, hate, hate death/black metal. The vocals annoy me too much when I can't even try to understand them.
Also, give it all is endlessly fun on drums and I like the song as well. Anything similar with comparable drumming?

Would you pay for music by Beck?
Maybe.
What if you heard he owned a plane made of gold?
Sure.
Good, because he needs the money.
