I respect the book and the fact that's gotten teens and tweens reading beyond Harry Potter.

But that being said, the Twilight movie that I was coerced to see last night really hurt my nads. The acting was so laughably awful, like every actor was trying to be as completely dramatic as possible and hamming it up. My fiancée kept saying, "oh god, this was so much better in the book".

The only part I actually enjoyed was the fight scene towards the end, but I'm told there really isn't any fighting in the second book. I'm dreading that movie already

Summit Entertainment gave the green light to start New Moon

Also, that book was spoiled for me. Stupid book report

    Ack, that's no good

... my brother is reading the book now too, mainly for reasons that he'll judge afterwards and it'll shut up our step dad from saying "How do you, you haven't read the book"

Well there's your answer as to why these books are so mediocre. It's a known fact among writers that music distracts you incredibly. It might give you inspiration from time to time, but it usually ends up affecting your writing in a bad way. I used to write with music too, and after dealing with months of writer's block I decided to turn it off. Lo and behold I started writing again because I was actually thinking instead of listening to music. My writing has been much better for years now...I look back at things I wrote with music playing and cringe.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if I see a bunch of tweens at a Muse concert because of Twilight (the fact that they only know Supermassive Black Hole will be a huge giveaway), I'm going to fly to Stephanie Meyer's house and facepalm her.

    It helps some people.

My friend Layla, she is a great writer, but she has to have music on.

I'm not implying that listening to music always has a negative effect on writing...it usually does, but it's not across the board. But in Meyer's case she should really close iTunes already.

When I do any serious writing, I do have to have music on, but it can't be the sort of thing I usually listen too (IE, rock), since I end up getting distracted by the lyrics. That's when my movie soundtracks come out.
