    Weird audio problem in RB2...

    Hey,

I've got a very annoying problem with Rock Band 2. In some part during a song, the sound of an instrument or the background music disappear or reduce. I've noticed that this happens with the DLC songs only. What is the problem?

    - I've installed the game on my HDD.
    - I've changed my game in the store.

    Please help...

Does this happen with just certain DLC or can it happen with any DLC? How often does it happen?

I haven't tried all of the DLC, but it happens to most of them. Could be all of them. For exampel, the whole guitar sound ending in the song "Charlene (I'm Right Behind You)" disappear, but the chart is still playing. I've never had problem with that song or any other DLC song before. I think that the problem is that I've installed the game on the HDD, but what about you guys who have done the same?

Are you sure it's not a speaker going out? Many CD versions (not sure about the RB mixes) will assign certain instruments or sounds to a certain direction. The other thing that happened to me on my parent's crappy old setup is the switch box for the TV had a bad connection on the right audio channel. So while I'd play, one side would jiggle out and the sound would cut out.

Best way to test, grab a pair of good speakers and plug them directly into the console, or as close as you can.

I have had a similar problem. I will be playing and one of the instruments completely cut out for about 5-10 seconds. The instrument sound will completely drop even though I am still hitting the notes, followed up with a loud snap and then the instrument comes back.

I have had it happen while playing single and band quick plays with friends. Has only happened perhaps 5-10 times in total. Never thought too much about it, just a bug.

I am playing through Dolby Digital if it makes any difference.

If your system is making a snap I really doubt that it's a software bug. Your sound system is the first thing I'd check.

I know where you are going with this but the same problem happened on my friend's system too and he has really nice A/V equipment.
