I have had my Ions for a month now (xbox 360 version). I have a lot of non registered hits on they cymbals. I plugged they yellow pad into the yellow cymbal port and that seems to work so I assume that my problem is the cymbals themselves. But now I have an issue with the red pad not registering unless I hit it right in the center. So now I don't know if I have a module problem or a cymbal problem or both. Any suggestions?

Contact ION and see if you can get an answer from them.

Well...unless you do want to call ION and offer to shine their shoes or something, I would:

    1) Take an Allan Key and tighten each and every nut on every pad. My green and red pads missed a note about every 15 or so before I did this.

    2) Replace the piece of crap 'cymbals' it comes with with better, [phenomenal!] Pintech Cymbals used by people like myself and DavidShek, among others. Seriously. Do it now. I can roll as fast as my hands can move on these pads and have them register every SINGLE note on screen in game.

After you tightened the pads down, would it register the hit from any spot on the pad (like if you hit the pad near the edge)?

I've had my Ion kit for quite a while and at first it worked perfectly and I was super exited but just recently it has started missing a lot of random notes.

I am currently on my second drum rocker. I had amazon send me a replacement set when the first one started disconnecting randomly. It turns out the new set is doing the same thing and after a bit of testing i'd almost bet money that its a static problem.

I did some testing today to verify this. First I put the pedal on a piece of hard plastic to get it up off the carpet and the disconnects were almost non existent. In fact the only way I could them to disconnect was to pet my dogs or rub my hands on the couch and then touch the pads will my bare hands, this would cause them to disconnect every time.

Is it worth sending the control module in to ion to get it fixed? Last time I talked with customer support they told me it would take 15 days minimum turn around to get it repaired. Has anyone sent there's in and had the problem actually be fixed? I'd hate to send it off for that long only to keep experiencing the same thing.

I've heard about people using a different pedal to fix this issues, is the rock pedal the way to go?

Not on topic but I did want to thank DavidShek and all the others out there that fill this forum with awesome info. Thanks!

I might have to try your solution. Just within the past few days, I've gotten a few random disconnects on my 360 set; never had a problem before. But I've also been running my wood stove these past few days, and so the air is pretty dry around everything where the drums and console are.

I did a little more reading and it seems like the problem might be with the ion pedal not being properly grounded. Like many others I bought a 1/8 to 1/4 mono adapter for my rock band 1 pedal (rock band 2 pedal snapped a while back) and I haven't had a disconnect since. I've also ordered the rock pedal since I can't see the rock band 1 pedal holding out for too much longer.

I would get the Roland CY8's as cymbals above the Pintech's.
