    New York Dolls

A great pre-punk/glam band from the early 70s. I would love to see Personality Crisis as DLC. Anyone else agree?

I've heard a lot about the NY Dolls and how much they influenced the first wave of punk. That said, the only song I'm familiar with is Personality Crisis from the cover in GH: Aerosmith.

I'd certainly buy a DLC pack to check them out.

I listened to some of the album I bought today and it sounds very punkish

    Absolutely.

The Dolls are probably the most famous band you've never heard of. They're credited with not only single-handedly launching punk rock (the British AND American versions), but also the glam rock of the 80s. They've influenced everyone from Kiss to The Clash to the Sex Pistols to GNR to REM to The Smiths to the Talking Heads to Iggy Pop to the Ramones to Blondie to....

And it's ironic that their frontman (David Johansen) gained his greatest fame as the fictitious "Buster Poindexter" who penned that godawful pop megahit "Hot Hot Hot" in the 80s. And also ironic that the Dolls' guitarist, Blackie Lawless, went on to become one of the most notorious hellraisers of the 80s when he headed up W.A.S.P.

And "Personality Crisis" was a hoot on GH Aerosmith, but was unfortunately a cover. I'd rather have the real deal.
