I'd probably go with Iommi, who barely edges out Jimi.

Although I think these two will be the popular choices.
    Nope.

Jimi is always my favorite user of the left hand path.

Kurt Cobain. His riffs are excellent, usually (Smells Like Teen Spirit is the obvious exception).

what defines a left handed guitarist?

Jimi Hendrix strung his guitar as a left handed guitar but I believe had been seen writing with his right hand. He strung the guitar that way because he wanted his dominant hand fretting because that was where the most complex motions were. It also created an interesting effect because of the pickup misalignment.

Other guitarists were left handed but played right handed guitars, like Joe Strummer and Toni Iommi.

    my vote goes to hendrix

Dick Dale played left handed, but the guitar was strung for a righty. he just played it upside down and backwards.
Does anyone chart anymore? le sigh.

Are you sure about that? I had always heard that Jimi played left handed, but played right handed guitars upside down, and I'm positive Iommi played lefty.

    Anyway, Iommi is my choice.
