Do you ever listen to songs at random?

Ever have a moment where you can't decide what you want to listen to? What do you do in those situations?

Personally, I usually just use my Ipod's "shuffle" option. More often than not, it will give me an idea on what to listen to.

So, how many others tend to abuse this option.

I use it all the time and just pass. It if I just choose the song I want I naturally choose the same songs. By shuffling I get to have more of a variety.

That's what I do. I usually don't listen to single songs, but I use shuffle to determine which album I want to listen to next.

Without going and looking I'm pretty sure my mp3 player has songs like...

"Hoochie Coochie Man" by Muddy Waters
"Real Mother For Ya" by Johnny "Guitar" Watson
"Flowers On The Wall" by the Statler Brothers
"Honky Tonk Heroes" by Waylon Jennings
"Blue On Black" by Kenny Wayne Shepherd
    "Ah Leah" by Donnie Iris
"Late In The Evening" by Paul Simon
    "Carolina Blues" by Blues Traveller
    "Lightning Crashes" by Live

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I usually just hit shuffle and let 'em play.

Honestly it is the main way i listen to music. I also like the Recommendation function on the last.fm scrobbler pure gold.

Never. The song needs to fit the mood I'm in.
Not removing this until Oscar-rio gets a sex-change!!

According to Roger Daltrey, you can let the music make the mood

    i rotate between the two...

if i'm in a specific mood i just can't deny it...
even if i just got a new black metal record i've been aching to hear i won't listen to it if i'm in the mood for some pop tunes.

however, if i'm feeling wishy-washy (and that's not a rarity) then i'll probably hit shuffle and enjoy the ride.

I honestly don't think I've ever used a random feature. I tend to get stuck on certain bands or albums for long periods of time, so random doesn't usually scratch the itch.
