    Squier is back!

The problem was that a battery had leaked & the electronics are obviously very sensitive to it. Energizers, even.

Fender was helpful and pleasant. But I was impatient.
Both my Best Buys had none on the shelf (they each had 1 last week). On a hunch, went back to a Best Buy I'd visited earlier and asked them to double-check stock. They had one in the warehouse.
(note: bestbuy.com lists the Squier as "no longer available" and has removed it from the product search. My 2 locals Best Buys have pulled their existing Squiers off the shelf. Recall?)

Set it up, and it works beautifully amped & in-game. I'm lucky, I guess, to get 3 Squiers that work OOB.

    Recommendations for Squier owners:
    • remove batteries when not playing
    • get a better strap then the one supplied
    • get a better MIDI cable then the one supplied
    • strap locks

    Good to hear!

BTW, I got my Squier last Thursday The Korg tuner showed 3 strings were way out of tune. The thick E string over-vibrates, so I'll have to adjust the pots for it. Finished the 1st two trainers and on the 3rd one.

However I now realize my pinky and ring fingers are not quite stretchy and strong enough... lol. I plan on going through justinguitar's "finger stretch exercises" before I continue on w/ the RB3 trainers.. as it does not make sense to use bad technique, etc to compensate for my weak fingers. Also doing justin's lessons on D, A & E chords.

Yes, one of the other RB forums reported that Fender only produced 1 batch of Squiers, and don't plan on making another batch. There are only 2 online retailers I could find that charged the MSRP... others were charging 1.5x or more! Got mine from buy dot com.

I plan on using it in RB3 w/o the string mute... and I think once I get that one pot adjusted, it should be good. Don't have an amp yet, but the holidays is not too far away

    AWESOME!

Glad you got it for MSRP!

Sounds like you are right on track with playing. It took me a while to build finger strength; close to a month or two.
(I recommend "Low Rider" as a good beginning finger exercise)

Look forward to playing with you online - ALL PRO!!

I am adding you to my Wii
I FINALLY SEE YOU ON MY WII!! w00t!!

Not sure the issue with Skype: theworldbeyondzion is definitely my Skype name there.
Perhaps try searching using the email box instead of the Skype name box?
My email is the same, just tack on @gmail.com to the end of it (thew*****dzion@gmail.com)

    Polkanuns -

Tell me that it's going to get easier! If I try to concentrate on getting the fingers on the correct frets, I forget to pick the correct string... lol.

How do you decide which finger to start off, to minimize shifting of the hands? I try to use the index finger on the first fret I see coming down, but sometimes the following notes are higher up the neck which means hand needs to be repositioned.

On a positive note, I can do the D/A/E chords easier now than couple weeks ago... yay, some progress.
