That is some fancy flute skills. Jethro Tull would be proud.

I still think Public Enemy are the best hip hop artists ever. I never got into A Tribe Called Quest much, but they're pretty good. The whole Alternative Hip Hop revolution was awesome.

I agree! Due to that scene starting in the late 80s we have a lot of politically-charged hip-hop artists now and more than enough albums that are worth time to listen to.

    Not just "enertainment".

I prefer my music politically charged, unsurprisingly. Jurassic 5 managed to keep it fun though, and yet managed to subvert the whole of mainstream Hip Hop by mocking it in their songs, I enjoyed that.

I think a lot of people had that mentality. Even early Black Eyed Peas, believe it or not!

I'm so glad you posted "Imaginary Places," that's one of the few hip-hop songs I like. The only hip-hop album I ever listen to with any regularity is Deltron 3030's self-titled one, though.

I want to punch Will.i.am. He said some rather nasty things about *** people in hip hop.

I'm guessing that was before they started singing about their humps?
Would you pay for music by Beck?
    Maybe.
What if you heard he owned a plane made of gold?
    Sure.
Good, because he needs the money.

Don't you know that song was all about subverting the patriarchy?

Also, remember when Fergie pissed herself on stage? That made me chuckle.

Mos Def is an awesome Hip Hop artist, good lyricist too.
