Nightwish

Just wanted to get a feel for other people's opinions of one of my favorite bands. And plz, no "They Suck" comments. If you don't like them cool. Feel free to post that. But just because you don't like listening to them doesn't mean they suck.

Nightwish is kick ass, it would make for some great dark songs in Rock Band.. i'm not a big fan of the whole singing style they have though, but other than that their music itself is awesome

The only other instrument they have is the Synth and while, yes, They use it ALOT, it depends on the songs. They downplay the synth in several songs.

You really want my opinion? Aside from the one song I did kinda like ("Ghost Love Score"), I find the rest of what I've heard to be pretentious operatic metal wank.

I think they would be doable in Rock Band. It's not that far removed from Lacuna Coil.

honestly, not to sound like a masochist (and hopefully spelling that right) i just can't stand a band where there's a female singer. i can handle drumming, guitar playing, and bass playing, but i just can't stand listening to women singing. possibly due to me growing up being forced to listen to britney spears and other crappy singers, but regardless... maybe it's just because i listen to metal, i want, and like death growling, and raw screaming in songs. clean vocals by guys too are fine (i like stratovarius and blind guardian, two of my favorite bands as a comparison) but i can't stand listening to women sing. once again, trying not to sound like a masochist but.. it's hard not to. plus, their female singer had some serious superiority problems.

I have no idea what "rock band worthy" means, but Im gonna be honest and blunt. I you don't like Nightwish you SUCK! Plain and simple. Oceanborn is one of the best metal albums. Don;t believe it? Then I'll have to pray for your soul.

Pretentious....I think it's pretentious to think a band is pretentious. Saying something is pretentious means you think you are above it, therefore you are pretentious. A pretty paradoxical stand in my opinion. (Besides, who cares if its pretentious? If it moves you, if it makes you bang your head, who the **** cares!)

How can listening to Britney Spears ruin women singing for you? Britney sucks! Admit it, you just don't like operatic vocals. Yeah, Tarja was a bit of *****, but the ***** sang awesome! Tuomas is the center of the band anyway. Also, there are bands where the female singer doesn't sound femenine at all, so you could try that (early White Skull comes to mind)

Third - i'm 14 years old. i grew up listening to crap singing by britney spears and avril lavigne, this turned me off of women singing faster than listening to llevas polka for 5 hours, i'm not sure why i hated it at the time, but i know that listening to anything by most women singers has an occasional tendency to raise bile in my throat.. Anyway, you have obviously ignored the part of my post where i said Blind Guardian and Stratovarius were two of my favorite bands, as those two bands feature operatic singing almost constantly on their albums.

And yes, i will try finding something by early white skull.

The problem with White Skull is that their vocalist was gruff, so while she sounds great...hard to understand her. Their new vocalist is a bit better in that respect.

So if you are a guy...why is it masochistic to not like women singing? Is it because you know you are depraving yourself of greatness such as nightwish that you say you are masochistic?

Operatic metal doesn't exist. Nightwish invented it, and it hasnt been done since. Blind Guardian (my favorite band after gamma ray), and Stratovarius, while highly melodic, are not operatic. You see, you gotta know how to sing opera to sing in an operatic way...

Im glad you find the first paragraph full of *******-ness. That was the intention. If Oceanborn doesn't do anything to you, then you might as well REALLY get into Britney Spears, cuz the metal gods will truly hate you. Heck, even their new album, while very different from Oceanborn, still rocks.
