Metal /Hard Rock Bands should really stop covering non metal songs.

The worst covers ever have come from metal/hard rock bands.

    I'll name a few examples

Marilyn Manson - Personal Jesus (Depeche Mode)
Marilyn Manson - Five to One (The Doors)
Dream Theater - Highway Star (Deep Purple)
Dream Theater - The Number of the Beast (Iron Maiden)
Dream Theater - Darkside of the Moon full album
Metallica - Brothers in Arms (Dire Straits)
Metallica - Shoot out the lights (Diamond Head)
Lacuna Coil - Enjoy the Silence (Depeche Mode)
Nightwish - The Phantom of the Opera (Lloyd Webber)
Judas Priest - Diamonds and Rust (Joan Baez)

Hendrix's Along Along the Watchtower is my favourite guitar arrangement ever.
Well, everyone, prepare to have your guts kicked out by folk singers...

I'm sort of sick of punk bands doing 'comedy' covers of top 40 hits myself, but the examples that the OP gave here are just plain stupid.

IMHO, Disturbed does great covers of Shout and Land of Confusion.

I really don't care for Manson but I liked his cover of Personal Jesus. I think some covers are a bit stupid like Cradle of Filth's cover of Devil Woman, but there are some really good ones too.

    agreed.

i couldn't help but laugh when a *****y ex of mine told me that she fired a girl who brought one of those "punk bands doing 80's covers" compilations to play at work on her first day.
hahaha! i'm still failing to hold back my laughter!
