I've never had any particularly negative experiences with PT fans. To me, the most negative thing about PT is Steve Wilson. The guy's a fantastic musician and producer, but his incessant whining and sour attitude when performing are really tiresome.

Every band has their amount of annoying fans, though. The ones I personally dislike most are the Marillion fans who very vocally proclaim how much of a better singer Fish was and how Steve Hogarth ruined the band... while attending a post-Fish Marillion concert. There's a couple of them at every gig, and I can't help but wonder what the hell they're doing there.

They're a great live band. I'm really looking forward to their acoustic tour this fall, should be interesting to hear the new acoustic compositions of heir songs (if I can get tickets, they're only playing relatively small venues). October is going to be insane, concert-wise... Porcupine Tree, Marillion, Progressive Nation and Metal Female Voices fest (which has bands such as Stream of Passion, Autumn, Delain and Midnattsol) all in only two weeks.

To be honest I've never understood what peoples' problems are with Marillion in general. Even in the 101 rules for Prog Metal one of the rules is 'Marillion is NOT Prog,' which leads me to believe someone's got an issue with 'em somewhere.

I've not heard the Fish era stuff just yet, and I think Steve Hogarth is awesome.

The funny thing about a lot of (mostly older) fans of 'progressive' rock is that they want all the bands to sound just like Gabriel era Genesis or Fish era Marillion... they freak out over any kind of innovation in the genre.

I don't really care much about labels, though. If I like the sound of a band, I'll enjoy them no matter what they categorize their music as. I've always considered all those 'this is or isn't prog/metal/punk/whatever' discussions a massive waste of time.

Same here, even though we have a different line-up over here. I have to admit I like the European line-up just a little bit better, although I'd really love to see Pain of Salvation live again.

I have Script for a Jester's Tear but I've not listened to it just yet.
