Also Moonchild from The seventh son of a seventh son album is based off a book by Aleister Crowley(aka: Mr Crowley)
If you're gonna count songs about crowley's works, there's like a zillion. Fields of the Nephilim also have a song called Moonchild, Electric Hellfire Club has a song called Book of Lies (which is actually not about Crowley's Book of Lies), and Current 93 has made a career of incorporating various bits of Crowley's works into their music. There's a vocal chorus called Unknown Rivers which puts the text of Crowley's Gnostic Mass to music, and rapper (and cirque de soleil clown) Scholar has a number of tracks about the Book of the Law, the Equinox of the Gods, etc etc. I categorize them as religious music, though, not really based on a book but on the philosophy.
Does anyone chart anymore? le sigh.

There's a new film coming out soon based on his writing, actually a collection of short stories interwoven into one film.
Best part of that movie is 'Huey Lewis and the News? They're a bit black for me.'

Iron Maiden's "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" was a concept album, Moonchild included. True, that song was based on the Aleister Crowley book. Yet the subject matter of that song and the whole album is based in the Orson Scott Card series/first book of the same name.

Don't forget Bruce Dickinson's "The Chemical Wedding" which is based on both the book of the same name, and several William Blake poems.

One of my favorite quotes, ever.

Moonwalking on the plastic and axing Paul was my other favorite moment.

I forgot it months ago, and will forget it again after I post this. One day, someone will make a good Crowley movie. Maybe it'll be like the Abbey of Thelema movie, which while being a horrible movie, was so cheesy as to be a great drinking movie. A bunch of folks from my OTO body watched that movie all liquored up, and laughed our ass off.

I haven't been bashed for my shallow opinions in a while and what better place than in a thread with a bunch of folks who think themselves intellectuals because they read the same books that rock stars do.

At any rate, Anthrax have done about a half dozen or more songs based on Steven King stories and books. Granted, I never read the books and the lyrics of the songs sound like 8th grade book reports but they do qualify in the thread.

Those songs are lame. The best song they did based on a book was I Am the Law. Judge Dredd <3
