Default Washington DC RB Night every Wednesday

We are starting a Rock Band 2 Night at Lotus Lounge in downtown DC. $5 Sake Bombs all night and other food and drink specials as well. We are normally a club so we will set up the Xbox 360 to a top of the line sound system and world class lighting system. The party will be hosted by DJ Joe AguiLAR

The event will run from 8 - Close and there will also be a Wii bowling lane set up as well.

Please let us know what you guys would like to see at these events and we will do our best to accomodate!

Lotus Lounge
1420 K St NW
Washington DC 20005
202-355-5998

We are one block away from McPherson Square Metro

I like the 8pm start time. I will probably show up. I believe you said in the main DC thread that parking is plentiful?

I have about 350+ songs, so I can bring my 360 and power supply (I have the early model power supply). Or if the Whitlow regulars show, we can use Zechman's if he willing to do that.

The website is very impressive, and the club looks even more so. I see you are the chef of the club? I for one will appreciate some of the more Asian dish. This place looks almost too high class for Rock Band, but I am definitely willing to check it out.

I'm there for sure. And I agree with BYC, too classy for RB, but that's cool

8:00 start time is awesome! I might be able to get some of my casual RB playing friends out for this.

After 6:30 all the metered spots in the area become available throughout the night. Also, thanks for offering your help in our setup and I might have some more questions as we prepare more for next week. Please understand that we have never done anything like this and I am sure we will make errors along the way. We just hope that everyone will have a fun time and make this a new destination for RB enthusiasts and casual gamers alike. We are trying to build it up slowly and our first Wednesday will be mostly you guys on the forums and our staff (we own four nightclubs in the DC area so there will be plenty of people). If anyone would like to come check out the space prior and give any advice on the potential setup I would appreciate it greatly.

I am the chef/manager of the venue and you can reach me at will@lotusloungedc.com or 202-355-5998. The space is very beautiful and I believe that it will be something different for both Lotus and the people who come out and support the existing RB nights.

As for the prizes, I have alloted a percentage of our revenue to be given out as prizes and I assume that at first it will be more of a casual atmosphere and as revenue increases for the night, so will the prize. We also work closely with Red Bull so there will eventually be a Red Bull sponsorship as well.

Once again, thank you for your interest and help and I will keep everyone updated as best I can.

Sounds Great Will,

I will definitely be there. The sound system sounds awesome, but what about visuals? The players seeing the screen as well as the crowd seeing a screen (doesn't have to be same one) is very important. Also very important is setting up the timing sync/delay between the game and the video and audio, but we can take care of calibration in the game and the RB2 guitar has mic and video sensor to automatically calibrate. How many and what type of screens do you have for this? Is the band facing the audience, or do they have their backs to it?

A great setup would be a big projection screen behind the band so that the crowd can see it, but with the band facing the crowd looking at perhaps a 42"-50" flat panel screen a bit lower between them and crowd. Having high-definition screens and keeping all of the video connections in HD is a help also.

We have two 45" flat panels behind the bar that everyone will be able to see and the band will be playing to another screen while facing the crowd. Our whole back wall is actually a series of LED lights and we have spotlights throughout the venue so we can make it resemble a real concert in terms of visual/audio. If this works out well, we also have a venue across the street called Tattoo Bar and that place has a 100" projection and also a "stage" upstairs that overlooks the whole bar. We can set something up there for a happy hour every now and then if there is a demand for it. Personally I think Tattoo is more ideal for RB but the sound system at Lotus is superior so let's just see how this goes and tomorrow I can show everyone how Tattoo is and see what to do from there. Look forward to meeting you guys.

Will

Also, at the moment my DLC seems to be lacking compared to some of the other posters on here, will anyone be bringing their console tomorrow night?

Will, your setup sounds like it will be very good, but perhaps your other venue might be more of a RB place. You say the sound isn't as good as Lotus, but even if Tattoo Bar has one-fourth the sound equipment as Lotus, and a guy who knows how to work it, it will still probably be better than most places that I've played Rock Band at.

There will be a bunch of regulars at Whitlow's on Wilson tonight so come on out and meet some of the guys and see a bit how they have it setup.
