To prevent the other thread from being derailed, lets talk about all the bland and amazing lyricism you've heard/read. How about it?

Being a teen and thus having all the teen problems that adults like to tell me about, I've found that Linkin Park's writing connects very well with me.

These are the best lyrics EVAR. Don't try to tell me otherwise.

I walk into the club looking kind of sexy now.
I see these shorties in the corner, they started making out.
They pull their panties down, They take their pants off.
Then they started getting freaky on the dance floor.
Shake it mommy give it to me like you need some love.
I got some bottles in the caddy that we can open up.
Lets get drunk tonight, baby we don't have to ****.
And bring your friend along, maybe we can have some fun.

Lets get freaky now, lets get ****ing freaky now. (x4)

I got these *****es all tipsy trying to sex me.
I know they want it, alcoholics are some sex freaks.
This ex and chronic gots me wanting to get messy.
So lets get messy girls, Come on lets go get messy girls.

Come on *****, you know you want this.
That hardcore **** will make you feel the toxic.
    Fursachi, Rolex watches.
Bently coups with the 20's droppin.
Convertible top, and the wheels spin.
I can taste that ice when my grill is in.
If you want me baby feel me in.
Cause I don't waste my time with lesbians.

Lets get freaky now, lets get ****ing freaky now. (x4)

    LIAR! (x8)

Oh baby why did you have to lie to me.
I can't play no more games.
These thoughts are slowly controlling me.
    You're turning off the flame.
    So GO baby GO baby.
    You don't want me.
    So GO baby Go baby.
    Come and get me.
    So GO baby GO baby.
    You don't want me.
    So GO baby Go!
    Come and get me.

Lets get freaky now, lets get ****ing freaky now. (x4)
Would you pay for music by Beck?
    Maybe.
What if you heard he owned a plane made of gold?
    Sure.
Good, because he needs the money.

"Concrete cold face cased in steel
Stark sharp glass-eyed crack and peel
Bright light scream beam brake and squeal
Red white green white neon wheel.

Dream flesh love chase perfumed skin
Greased hand teeth hide tinseled sin
Spice ice dance chance sickly grin
Pasteboard time slot sweat and spin.

Blind stick blind drunk cannot see
Mouth dry tongue tied cannot speak
    Concrete dream flesh broken shell
Lost soul lost trace lost in hell."
-"Pictures Of A City" - King Crimson

Amazing poetic lyrics coupled with perfect vocal delivery.

I was driving across the burning desert
When I spotted six jet planes
Leaving six white vapor trails across the bleak terrain
It was the hexagram of the heavens
It was the strings of my guitar
Amelia, it was just a false alarm

    The drone of flying engines
Is a song so wild and blue
It scrambles time and seasons if it gets thru to you
Then your life becomes a travelogue
    Of picture-post-card-charms
Amelia, it was just a false alarm

    ~ Joni Mitchell, Amelia

There is more, but the first two verses are gold.
Well, everyone, prepare to have your guts kicked out by folk singers...

Frank Zappa, John Lennon, Pete Townshend, Bob Dylan, Beck, Johnny Cash, Thom Yorke, Jello Biafra, John Fogerty, Michael Stipe, Kurt Cobain, and so on.

Some others I like that others seem to not agree on are James Hetfield (Harvester of Sorrow, Leper Messiah), Kevin Shields, Geezer Butler (for the simplicity), Steve Harris, Maynard James Keenan (he does write the lyrics, right?) Don Henley, Dave Mustaine, Layne Stayley, Shannon Hoon, Tom Petty...

That's good enough for now, sticking with the obvious ones.

While he'll never be mistaken for Dylan, nor am I saying I think he's one the best lyricists ever, I enjoy a lot of the lyrics David Lee Roth writes. He's got a certain poetic rythm that appeals to me. These 2 are defintely among my all time favorite lyrics.

    Secrets from Diver Down (1982)

She ain't waiting 'til she gets older
Her feet are makin' tracks in the winter snows
She got a rainbow that touches her shoulder
She be headed where the thunder rolls

Ow, ow, ow, she got that rhythm
Got that rhythm of the road, ah
Ow, ow, ow, she get crazy
Woman get crazy, if she can't go
Aw, but uh, she just lookin' good

She comes like the secret wind
She's as strong as the mountains, walks tall as the trees
She been there before, she'll never give in
She'll be gone tomorrow like the silent breeze, uh

(Ahh) Ow, ow, ow, she got rhythm
(Ahh) Got that rhythm, of her own
(Ahh) Ow, ow, ow, she get crazy
(Ahh) She get crazy if she can't go
But uh, ah she just lookin' good

You know how sometimes, you got to run
You runnin' blind, but you jumped the gun

The question is not, "Does love exist?"
But when she leaves, where she goes?
I got the feelin' she don't know either
Wait like the wind, watch where she blows

Ow. Oh, oh, got that rhythm
That sweet rhythm of her own
Oh, oh, oh, she get crazy
Woman get crazy if she can't go
Oh, oh. A-lookin' good, aw yes

In A Simple Ryhme from Women And Children First (1980)

Well, back in the past when I was, treated so coldly
My love life was a darn disgrace
Needed someone to love n' hold me
That's one of the reasons that I was outta place
So, this is love? Well she finally kissed me
Had me all worked up inside
I wanted love but cupid missed me
She up and left and I almost died

But I was young and I was far from lonely
I been that way for a long, long year
Needed a girl to call my one and only
    Is that you?

Ya think ya got the interest?
Come on an' take the time
'Cause you know, I wanna be
    Yours in a simple rhyme

Well, ain't life grand when ya finally hit it?
I'm always a sucker for a real good time
Woke up in life, found I almost missed it
Ain't I glad that love is blind?

But I was young an' I was, far too crazy
Been that way for a long, long time
Needed a girl but I was just too lazy
    Now that I've found you

Ya think ya got the interest?
Come on an' take the time
I'm gonna be, yours in a simple...

    Rhyme. Rhyme
N' she made the mountains sing
    Birds against an icy sky
    And I heard bells ringin'
I think I heard an angel sigh

And she said, "There'll be times. There will be times."

(Ah ah) You're gonna hear the angels singin'
(Ah ah) You're gonna hear the angels sing, they'll say
(Ah ah. Ah ah. Ah ah ah)

Ya think ya got the interest
Come on an' take the time
I'm gonna be yours in a simple...
