Sell me on Coheed And Cambria.

I think I want to get into Coheed. My best friend is obsessed with them, and he keeps telling me to be as well. He first showed me A Favor House Atlantic, and I don't really like it. I think it's Claudio's voice, it's way too high and I find it very annoying. BUT, Rock Band showed me Welcome Home, and I LOVE that song. If they have more songs like that, then I'm sold. I'm also really intrigued by the whole fact that all of their albums are an overarching storyline, but the more I read into it, the more it seems lame because it's a Sci-Fi story, and that isn't really my thing. But if you can convince me otherwise, I'm all ears. Er, well, eyes, in this case.

ditto. I was surprised by Welcome Home, so i gave the rest of their discography a listen...what a waste of 2 hours.

What I personally enjoy about Coheed is the guitars. The singing, bass, and percussion almost always take a backseat to the guitar riffing and soloing; while I am normally not a huge fan of these types of bands (I love prominent rhythm sections to death), there's something about Coheed that I quite enjoy. I think it might be the guitar tone, because they remind me of Billy Corgan's playing, or the lyrics, because I'm a huge sci-fi geek. Here are a couple of my favorite C&C songs:

I'd say there's better bands with albums with a plot line, but I can't really help you with Coheed & Cambria, since I don't like them much.

why should anyone have to sell you on something.... cant you just like it or dislike it on its own merits? you DO have the ability to form your own opinion about stuff dont you?

i like a lot of their stuff. its interestingly done. they are not going to be labled the savior of music or anything like that, but its far from being bad.

    /edit/
should have added... if your friend is that into them... borrow some of their stuff from him for a couple weeks and go through it... if you still dont like it.... ok, you at least gave it a shot which is a good thing... if you do... go out and buy it.

...I do, but I don't want to misjudge the band because I only know two songs? You know if I said your favorite band sucked but only knew one song from Rock Band, you'd flame me for it. Sheesh. I also like to hear from actual fans what they like about them, and I don't want to accidentally hear the few bad songs they have and form an opinion around that (I'm not gonna listen to all 4 albums just to decide if I want to listen to them or not, 4 songs would suffice).

It's funny when the sideproject (Fire Deuce) is better than the main band (Coheed).
