In this day and age, ease of production (digital recording, PCs, protools, cheaper, etc) and ease of distribution (internet, file sharing, youtube, burning CDs, etc) make music much more available outside of small bars and local scenes.
I dont think we remember it because it wasnt available.

I also have a really open mind Music wise. my tastes go from Coheed to Fallout Boy to Megadeth to Nofx to Zeppelin. its really hard to find something i dont like. although if you wear some kind of mask, its almost a sure thing i will dislike you.

3 is ****ing awesome. I've known of them forever but couldn't find their music until recently, thanks in no small part to gowie.
Although I would like to say I was disappointed by that cover. Nowhere near as bad as some of the others on that album (Run to the Hills was awful), but some of the others (Machine Head's version of Hallowed Be Thy Name, for example) were much, much better.
Coheed could have done better with it, IMO.
