Sorry, I really feel like the Downing/Tipton duo gets too much credit for pioneering dual-lead even though they weren't very good at it. At least, not as good as Davey/Adrian.
Well, Maiden *was* considered the understudy of Priest back in the early years --- when they toured together, Priest got top billing -- and I really luh-huv KK & Glenn. But yeah, I agree that Maiden deserves a lot more credit....I think Murray shows a helluva lot more technical expertise and raw talent than even KK.

WGG Radio- SgtDill- Sting never saw a song where he didn't think, "You know, I think it would be better with 2 more minutes of chorus at the end."

I'd say the greatest strength of the Downing/Tiption duo wasn't necessarily the dual lead playing, but rather their dual rhythm ability. It's actually quite subtle the way they play off of each other, and obviously they're both more than proficient from a technical standpoint. I'd say their greatest strength as dual-lead guitarists was their teamwork, and there aren't a whole lot of other two guitar line-ups that rival them in that regard.
Then again, I'm a huge Priest fan who thinks that Iron Maiden has never moved out of their shadow and I can't be convinced otherwise.

    As for my vote:

    Eric Clapton: 4
    Steve Howe: 4
    Dave Murray: 1
    Johnny Marr: 1
    Jimi Hendrix: 1
