Then soulseek is not working at 100%, it is probably running at around 5% which is very un-useful.

See: http://www.portforward.com/ for some help on how to fix this. Also my username on soulseek is Gowienczyk if you want to contact me with the program's private messaging tool.

Recomendations from friends, forums such as this, music magazines, pretty much the same way I found stuff when I was a kid. Except the internet forum part heh.

Something I've always done and continue to do is to pay attention to what influenced the bands that I really love and then check those artists out. After I've done that I try to find out the influences that those artists had and just keep on doing that. I've gotten into lots of bands that way from reading interviews of artists I like and seeing who influenced them.

For example Iron Maiden lead me to Thin Lizzy, David Lee Roth lead me to Steve Vai who in turn lead me to Frank Zappa, Motley Crue lead me to the New York Dolls and Hanoi Rocks, Hanoi Rocks got me into The Stooges, David Bowie lead me to Mott The Hoople etc etc etc.

I actually get away from the computer, go to Electric Ladyland, or any record store i can find, ( Electric lady land lists there music by genre, and not by simple Punk, Rock, denotations, and you can sample any album completely ) I also like recommendations from friends.
