Grado and Sennheiser are excellent choices, IMO. And can be gotten for fairly reasonable prices.
These Goldrings are comparable, too. And they come with a detachable cord, which is really an advantage -- the first thing to go on headphones is usually the cord because it's gets pulled too hard and too far. WIth a detachable cord, the cord just pulls out -- damage is minimal. I've had that feature on my Sennheisers for ages, and it's saved me many times over.

"Procrastinate today. Don't put it off to tomorrow" - Ellen DeGeneres
I once fell asleep in the NY subway and rode from the lower East side to Queens and back before I was woken up. Never again!
I picked up these about a year ago at Best Buy (I think for $130) and can't think of one negative. They sound great, and can take a beating (I'm pulled them violently off my desk only to crash onto the floor by tripping on the long cord many a time). I'm not sure if that's what you were looking for, but I would say they're completely worth the money.
Would this be the thread to ask about people's experiences with the Beats by Dre headphones?
