That is one heck of a score Ninjas in Disguise!

With a score like that you will definitely max out the 50% of the overall that is based on points in game.

See you on Friday.

I think everyone's mind was a little blown that it was mathematically possible to almost break 2 mil on a song with that kind of a difficulty level, and mind you nobody FCed it. It really left a bad taste in the mouth of a number of bands and fans alike. I know its on the list, and I know the first round is all about maximizing points, but ugh, totally f-ing lame. It just blows the mind that you could gold star FC with perfect overdrive 90% of the songs on the list and still get beat by a band with medium and hard instruments. It just goes to show that GIA should have been yanked from the list at the start of competition, just like Teenage Riot. Hopefully next time, they think through the set list a bit better, or introduce some scoring system to the early rounds other than just score. /end rant/
I talked about Give It Away quite a bit earlier. It is pretty silly to have it available at the early rounds, where only score counts. It should never have been included in the early round song list.

That's pretty much all water under the bridge at this point though, as I think yesterday was the last night to qualify in any region (Northeast). Congratulations to all the bands who were smart, read this thread, and qualified with it, and special congratulations to those bands who have advanced despite the presence of Give It Away.

Default Death ledger!!!

I would say that if I was in the crowd during the performance I would have trouble watching it, but I know I wouldn't be able to actually look away. It seems like one of those sick (funny to some) ideas that I would come up with. The only problem is usually when I come up with one of those some one is there to say "You know maybe that might offend some people" I would have to say 10/10 creativity and originality....But some might not appreciate such a crazy idea!
If there is any video of the competition and you guys from last night I would love to see it, also anything from ninja's in disguise....let me know if anything gets posted on youtube

I know this is very forward looking at this point, but has anyone thought about what the crowd reaction is going to be at the B-52's show?

I am a member of the winning band from the Metropolis property, headed to the regionals in New Orleans. I wanted to say thanks to Harrah's and the Rock Band community for putting on this contest. Also, I'm seeking any other bands that will be playing in New Orleans on the 30th for a possible get together the night before the contest. Our band, Wet Nelson and the Hot Commodities, will be staying in the Doubletree Hotel (on Harrah's dime, of course) and would be interested in hanging out with our fellow competitors for a friendly and most likely drunken ordeal prior to our big night. I'm not trying to feel our our competitor or be an internet *******; just seeing who all is out there and general information about our fellow regional semi-finalists.

Probably quite indifferent.

Only way I see the crowd giving a damn is if the MC makes a big deal out if with some sort of thorough introduction that includes the back stroy.

Here's the breakdown.

Random Round:

FA/KE: Down With The Sickness - Disturbed
They came out with about 1.2 million but they really set the stage with their performance/style scores.

Semi Precious Metal: Bodhisattva - Steely Dan
Scored about 900k. They were still getting a feel for the stage. Performance/Style were on the low side but they had a huge crowd reaction. Both Bassist and Guitarist played with no straps.

No Quarter: Battery - Metallica
No Quarter got approval to have their song set to Breakneck Speed. That combined with a seeming lack of experience with the song hurt them scorewise. It was only around 250k i believe. They did have stage presence though, so that helped them out overall.

Delicious: Flirtin' With Disaster - Molly Hatchet
The lead singer for Delicious was an instant hit. She's an 8th grade science teacher. I believe the scored around 600k and pulled in above average performance/style.

It was easy to see the difference in balance from technical to stage presence between the bands.

Band Choice Round:

FA/KE: Ballroom Blitz - Sweet
FA/KE really came out guns-a-blazin' this round. Their performance was really amazing. They knew how to play the song and they knew how to perform the song. They were on fire the whole time.

Semi Precious Metal: Don't Fear The Reaper - Blue Öyster Cult
This song was a vehicle for some really amazing guitar work by SPM, to the point where the Bassist and Guitarist traded instruments (tossed to each other!) mid-song and kept it going full tilt. They really picked up the showmanship from the previous round. Huge crowd reaction.

No Quarter: Pleasure, Pleasure - Bang Camaro
Still on breakneck. It was clear that they were much more familiar with this song. The lead singer is a hell of a frontman and really lead the band through the performance.

Delicious: Round & Round - RATT and Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac
Delicious started out with a blistering performance on R&R but were cut short by a technical issue about 3/4 of the way through. They restarted and the same thing happened at the exact same point in the song again, so they switched to GYOW. They didn't miss a beat though and put on one hell of a show with Fleetwood.

In the end, FA/KE took home the grand prize. Their performance on Ballroom Blitz was just awesome to watch. They brought an element of choreography with them that was really unmatched.

I have to give a shout out to the other bands though. They were all seriously top tier players and just incredibly cool people. They made the tourney really fun for everyone who was there and i definitely thank them for that.

Dang man, thanks for writing that up!

Sure wish there was video of this so we could all get a better idea of what a great performance on Rock Band looks like.

Maybe even some comments from Sean, since he was scheduled to be one of the judges.
