Our band, originally named "Free Beer" which was a complete misnomer the first time we attempted to qualify, because we lost and had to pay for our beer, won in Council Bluffs last night...under the revised name, "Free Beer: And this time we mean it!". LOL
It was quite interesting, to say the least, to see Vindictive Syndicate there attempting to qualify in a second city as an insurance policy.
It sucks that you guys made the 2.5 hour drive up to Council Bluffs from KC to lose by less than 5,000 points but I'm glad we didn't get beat by another band that had already qualified. Our first night we got beat by a band that had already qualified but weren't sure their drummer could make it to the finals to they reorganized and won again.
Good luck in KC, I hope your score holds because I would really like a rematch on a better calibrated system. After getting home and playing for a bit last night I realized that the competition setup was off by more than I originally thought.
Free Beer: And this time we mean it played Give It Away, as did VS, with pretty pitiful score of 1.68 million while VS played slightly more miserably with a score of 1.63 million(if I am remembering correctly).
For the finals we are considering playing a more difficult song with a higher point potential, and that isn't basically a free vocals song, but we'll see. From what the staff said last night, the only restrictions for the final night is the song must come from the authorized song list, with no restriction on song difficulty, i.e. Warm Up, Solid, etc, and all players must be on Medium or higher.
Anyway, hopefully FBATTWMI will be able to meet a few more RB.com forum members in Chicago and then again in Atlantic City.

Yea i did and got hung up on or transferred to the reservation people 3 times. The reservation people told me to call the property, and before I could explain, they either transferred me or hung up, this is BS. I dont know what else I can do... Im never spending my money in any harrahs casino again...
Vindictive Syndicate still has a good chance of winning in KC. The last night is on Tuesday the 7th. My band will have only one shot at trying to 1-up their score and it may be tough. The song we a planning on playing takes a lot of excellent playing from our players. We have ranged anywhere from 2 million to 2.35 million on the song.
I'm not going to lie when I say that it makes the tournament a lot harder for us when they took Teenage Riot off the list. At least on that song the drummer and guitarist make up the vast majority of points. This time around, it takes everyone.
No Give it Away for us, either go big or go home.
Go big or go home is exactly what we are going to try and do on the 10th at the finals for Council Bluffs.

I was wondering why I kept hearing give it away. so Basicly it's an easy song with high points? does that mean in vegas it's going to be the same few songs again?

Hey all, this is Pete, the singer from VS. I just wanna say first off Wasch_24, it was great meeting you guys last night, and you definitely triumphed depsite the poor calibration settings. Good luck to you guys in your local finals!
We're not "qualified" yet in KC, since our local competition is being run cumulatively, and I have no doubt that Melting Pants will give us some serious competition on Tuesday. kn0sis may be acting modest, but their band is honestly VERY good at getting amazing scores. We'll be rehearsing some other material over the weekend, and we'll play one more time with whatever we think can get us the highest score.
I know Give It Away has gotten a lot of hate in this discussion, and I understand the reasons, but I personally feel no shame in playing it. I don't have trouble singing the harder tunes, so I don't really care if it's a gimme for the singer - but it does give me a chance to get away from the monitor and really perform. I know that doesn't "count" in the local competitions, but to me, any time I'm on stage in front of people, I want to give them a good show and entertainment.
To all the qualifiers - way to go on your early victories and good luck in your next rounds. Hopefully we'll see some of you in Chicago.
Hey Pete, don't forget...if our "public servant" guitarist can't get the night off you guys will be in the finals in Council Bluffs on the 10th. I got an email address for one of your members and will let you guys know if we have to forfeit.
I am pretty sure that no matter what our female guitarist and myself will be there on the 10th though.
BTW, it really sucks that KC is going by cumulative score instead of weekly winners battling it out in a local final of sorts.

Hey Pete, this is Adam the guitarist/bassists for "Free Beer and this time we mean it!" that was a blast last night and I hope everything works out for you guys in KC this week. I would have been interested to see what kind of score you guys could have put up last week because the calibration was much better last week. Best of luck and I hope to have a rematch in Chicago....
